Xbox one party chat works, but game chat does not.

    Xbox one party chat works, but game chat does not.


    As the title says, I cannot use the in game chat for any game. This has been going on for quite a while now. I can hear people talking when my headset is unplugged, but when i plug it in i cant hear anyone and i cant talk. Party chat works no problem. I
    have done a hard reset and got it to work until i joined a party with a friend and after i left the party the game chat stopped working again. And weirdly enough when my headset is not plugged in during the time the in game chat wont work with it, the audio
    options (like the game sound being reduced by 50%, 80%, etc when someone is speaking) functions as though i had a headset plugged in and all the sound is reduced by that setting regardless if someone is talking or not so I need to have it set to 0 in order
    to hear any sound. Any ideas on what could be going on?

    Can't turn on PARTY CHAT

    Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

    We use Skype when it doesn't work.

    To get the party chat to work:

    - we all reboot our consoles (do not start any other apps/games when it boots up)

    -one person starts a party but does not invite anyone

    -the rest joins the party by going to the friends list choosing the friend and selects Join Party

    -turn on party chat

    Ive tested the following when it doesnt work:

    -join existing party that has chat turned on

    -turn on my party chat - unsuccessful

    -ask host to turn off party chat

    -turn on my party chat -success

    -ask host to turn on party chat - unsuccessful

    -turn off my party chat

    - host turns on party chat - successful

    Xbox one party chat works, but game chat does not.

    Correction, I can use the game chat for other games (feel silly saying it was every game). It seems as though the only games I've been referring to that game chat stops working for are Ubisoft games such as R6 Siege, Wildlands, For Honor.

    Hey there, sorry to hear that is happening. Are you currently enrolled in the preview program? If so you will want to post over in those forums as they will be best equipped to troubleshoot a preview related issue. If you are not,
    can you let us know what if any troubleshooting you have done thus far?

    Yes, it was an issue with the preview program. Forgot i was even in it, thanks for reminding me. All is good now.

    Cross compatibility xbox one/360

    Forgot to answer the question about the party chat. Party chat does not work between the 360 and One only text messages. If you play a 360 game that has in game voice communications that will work.

    Does game chat in other games work? Or is game chat in every game not working?

    What particular game does not work with party chat on your account?

    Can you check on
    https://account.xbox.com/settings     if by accident your online and privacy settings were changed to disable voice chat?

    Astro A50's not working in party chat or game chat on Backwards Compatible games

    Does the headset work on Xbox One Party chat (i.e. do you see a circle around your gamerpic in the party chat on Xbox One)?

    Are only Backwards compatible games affected? If so, it might be that the Astro A50 base station acts as a USB microphone, which doesn't work as Chat microphone on the Xbox 360.

    You might have to contact the Astro A50 support for information on how to use that headset on backwards compatible titles.
    Yeah it works on the Xbox One party chat but yeah that's what i was thinking i might just have to get a old Xbox One chat headset for it to work.
