It's being said on Neogaf that the whole party system is being reworked so that xbl handles parties and chat as opposed to xbox ones PS3-style-games-control-VOIP.

Cboat mentioned before release that the party system was reworked from 360 and changing games required "handshakes" between services to keep parties and that this caused problems. But he was shot down! He was spot on and the party system has gone down exactly as he said it would.

So it's on neogaf that ms are completely redoing party to do away with those "handshakes" and going back to xbl controlling VoIP rather than each game.Click to expand...

He wasn't spot on. He and others said the whole thing was broken, that snap was broken than xbox live would barely work and there would be huge problems.

There aren't. And now they try to weasel out of it with weasel words and backtracks.

Party chat is not broken either, it just works differently and isn't as user friendly as it should be. MS are addressing this.

Xbox One Party Chat Broken?

Is the Party Chat system broken on the Xbox One? Frequently I can't start a party, or join a party, nor can my friends join a party that I start. Sometimes I get error messages, other times I get a message that I don't have that particular app when I do,
and other times the icon just goes round and round without ever doing anything. I can join friends in games, and play multiplayer without issue, it's just party's that has this issue. Sometimes turning the console off and then back on will fix it, though
sometimes it doesn't, or it'll drop after 10-15 minutes.

Using a netgear router, NAT is open, UPnP is on, ISP Centurylink, and using a wired connection. Oh, and I've never been the subject of a PET action, figured I'd better throw that in, since that seems to be a common issue as per my Google searches. Any
help would be appreciated thanks.

After doing some google searches, I have noticed people saying opening up ports 88 and 3074 provide a fix, you can also check in the settings to see if your NAT is open.

The party chat has been broken since day one. I'm not able to get party chat to work until at least 3 tries of console resets each time. All the settings are correct, followed the guides and tips, and it's been over a year yet the party chat remains in the
same broken state it's been in since day one. Give up, Microsoft is never going to fix anything.

It's quite strange how the evolution of Xbox Live has become more insular with the advent of party chat. Back in the days of Beta and Xbox One, people had no choice but to chat to each other and take the insults as they come (they were few and far between).
I'm no fan of party chat but it's not like Battlefield makes chat easy... their system is broken in game as well.

Do you mean in game chat or party chat? If you mean party chat then its probably just party chat being broken as usual. My advice make a skype account for both of you and use that because my buddy and I find its the only reliable voice communications on
the One.
