Xbox One owners miss out on 360 Games that are Backward Compatible?

When I upgraded to the Xbox One I didn't think much about my 360 since there was no backward compatablity. I gifted the console, games and all, to my Father-in-law. This was my first time ever dismissing a console from my household and it was hard to let
go. My Father-in-Law just loved Halo so much I had to give it to him because of his love for the game(s). Really, the reason I got rid of my 360 is irrelevant. What is relevant though is that I upgraded shortly after the Xbox One came out. Even repurchased
games for the new console just so I didn't have to use the 360 anymore so I could gift it away.

I always download(ed) every Game that becomes available with Games w/ Gold. Unfortunatly, since I don't have the 360 in my household anymore, I have missed out on the oppurtunity to download all the Games that have come out with the Games w/ Gold program
for the 360 over the last year or so. Since I made the upgrade to the One do I miss out on all those free Xbox 360 titles that may become Backwards compatible In the future? Do I miss out on all the games my Xbox Live Subscription has essentially paid for? Will
this just be a tough luck situation?

Could backwards compatibly be coming

Backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 would be nice, but not overly necessary. Backwards compatibility with Xbox on the other hand would be sweet, It's been so long since I played those games. And yes it will be a sad day when Xbox 360 LIVE is shut down,
but with Xbox 360 owners outnumbering Xbox One owners 9/1 I can't see that day happening any time soon.

 

unable to get Crysis for 360 on xbox live

In previous months I was able to get the 360 games on games with gold on xbox live. I don't own xbox 360....only xbox one. I was able to go to xbox live on my pc and get the 360 games.

But not this month. Tried for several days. Got error message.

Contacted xbox chat who said that since Crysis was on backward compatibility list I could not get it. Only games NOT on backward compatibility list were available. I said that Phil Spencer suggested that xbox one owners should get 360 games with gold
to have them for when they became available on backwards compatibility.

And the xbox support rep in chat was saying the opposite to Phil Spencer. If game was on backwards compatibility it would NOT be available for xbox one owners to get via games with gold.

This is the error message "Is this your first purchase? To ensure it is compatible, please sign in to Xbox Live using your console and try again."

 

^Guess I never thought about downloading it for free through Xbox.com... But still, I am curious if there will be anything available for Xbox One owners (who previously owned a 360) who hadn't downloaded these titles due to the generation jump.

 

I was thinking the same thing. So many I missed that I wanted to but didn't bother because I no longer had the system. I sold it all, but I do still have a large amount of games I did DL, buy and arcade games I had that I am hoping make it in.

For what ever reason I always thought I should of took the time to DL the free games just incase there is something. Now I regret not doing it.

 

To be honest, none of us should feel bad about this. When they said they didn't know if this was possible at first, believe them.
