You know they always do new hard drives and this means Xbox One wont stop so easy as the 360.

See it like this today all is fine with Xbox One and this wills stay this way for a while.

But one day it will be too slow for that time so what do you do?

Get a external hard drive from a company that makes those specifically for xbox.

Then you put your games and apps on there and it will boot them faster.

By that time the cloud is working even better and there is less the xbox has to store on its main storage to run the home screen

    See it now?

Yes it is like an upgrade if you wanna see it like this.

IMO, 4k TVs are only relevant if you require them. Console gaming (current Gen, specifically) is ny main source of entertainment. And as most of the games I play are 1080p at best, I have no need to upgrade my television.

In a grander scope of things, yes, the consoles are outdated. But personally, they are exactly what I need. Right now, at least

  5. It depends on what you want really and what you happy with. But if you talking about the future which is what we are here then 4K is replacing 1080P and that will continue at a alarming rate. If you look at TVs 1080P TVs are at the bottom price range.
A sign that they are being fazed out to be replaced with 4K.

Not a problem if you are just thinking games but we know consoles are multi media devices today and with Netflix announcing 4K streaming to begin soon this will have a impact on Sony and MS re designing their consoles to make em more future proof.

You can't halt progress in any shape or form.

  6. I love these debates. The amount of people that come out with over dramatic statements whether it's because they are merely parroting what they read on some tech forum/article that states upgrading from 'X' to 'Y' is a necessity (when its not, it's only
stated by those that have to have any tech early) or if they genuinely believe it themselves, never ceases to surprise me.

It's similar to mobile phones insofar that most of these people expect us all to own the manufacturers flagship devices (and still expect us to bin them and replace them a mere 2 years later) and struggle to wrap their head around why some of us have the
audacity to opt for the lower end models or those in-between.

I've only recently upgraded my 720p TV to a full 1080p TV and I've gotten by just fine. I hate to break people's balls here, but no, most people won't have 4k tvs in their houses within 4-5 years. Most people who own TVs don't come onto forums to talk
about the latest technology. Those people who claim we'll all have TVs with bells and whistles are living in their own little internet bubble.

Yeah, 1080p TVs at at their lowest price, but that doesn't mean they'll disappear, that means more people will buy them now and they'll become more common in a lot more households.

  7. @ Prof you wrong, people do debate TVs and what lies ahead just go check AV Forums proves my point. Yes you correct on the 1080P format TVs there will be a lot in house holds as they are at a much cheaper RRP. But prices are also dropping on 4K too. As
4K becomes cheaper people may adopt but in the long term it's going to grow bigger and bigger and become the norm.

MS didn't believe in Blu Ray and tried to push the HD drive with the 360 and for those who can remember we all know what happened there.

but Blu-ray is also I dying format being over shadowed by digital, sales of dvd still outnumber Blu-ray massively, 4k may come down in price but then the next standard of 8k will follow, there rushing them out the door to keep the money flowing, people just
simply cannot afford to keep upgrading every year or 2.

I don't see myself upgrading to 4k anytime soon, don't see a reason to, especially since my ISP decided to enforce a data cap, so 4k streaming is out of the question, I only just starting buying BluRay media when I got my X1 and don't see a huge advantage
    over DVD.

This gen has already shown that these consoles can put out some very nice graphics, and I will be perfectly happy with my X1 because I know the visuals will continue to improve over the years.

How is 4K necessary? Over the air channels broadcast in 1080i at best, majority of internet connections (At least here in the states.) can't support it, and I haven't found any media devices (Or media.) in any of the stores that sell the 4K T.V.'s. Sure
the demo loop they have their 4K T.V.'s on look nice...

    Peace, J.R.

I still haven't moved from LCD to LED LCD on both my sets. And don't intend until they go bang. I'm looking at another 5 years before that happens.

No, I'm not wrong. There's millions upon millions of people who don't use the AV Forums. You are basing your entire opinion on people who go out of their way to post on those forums, who have a general interest in the very tech you're championing. It
is not a true reflection on the general population of any country in any shape or form. You may know people, as do I, but I know a helluva lot more that don't give a flying **** about 4k tvs. Most probably don't even know what a 4k TV is. More people will
know what they are when they begin to come down in price and are accessible to more people. Believe it or not, but 4k TV's aren't really a priority in most people's life. I wasn't even interested in 1080p tvs until my 720p tv gave up the ghost.

It's never wise to base an argument around a group of enthusiasts, because it's never a true reflection of the way things are.

Well I know a lot of people complain about the next gen counsels struggling to support high frame rates and screen resolutions. Technology is advancing faster than I think people have expected, 4k TV's are even becoming more popular and replaced by 1080p
on the shelfs which next-gen counsels can not support. My $300 laptop has more processing power than the Xbox One.

    [/quote]

It never ceases to amaze me how little people know about the stuff they are criticising.

You had 1080p gaming on the XBox 360.

My XBox 360 is as powerful as your laptop.

1080p is a last gen resolution.
