Xbox One Out Of Box (Day One) Console and game updates for possible buyer?

Hello. I am thinking of getting an Xbox One now that it's much cheaper but I don't have Internet currently. Does the Xbox require a day one update and if so is there a disc version or some other solution. Will games require an out of box update also? If
so I am not sure I will be able to get this for a while.

Day One Edition Console Issues Warning

The Day One Editions were a precursor to the regular green box Xbox One console. So any Black Box Consoles are manufactured before the Green Box Xbox One consoles, so when we take a look at this the Xbox One Day One Edition consoles were rushed. So of course
they are going to have issues. There has been a lot of reports of day one consoles being bricked out of the box.

My brothers day one console was plugged in the wall, has proper ventilation and everything, he was playing Ryse this morning and paused it and turned his Xbox 360 on through the consoles HDMI port to see if a friend was on. Suddenly the power brick light
went amber then dim amber. He stopped, unplugged it, reseeded everything and hit the power button, the light went white, the power brick light went white and smoke came out of the top of the console. So it was like a power chip burned up in the console or
something that regulates power.

Fair warning, that Xbox One Day One Edition Consoles are having issues.

 

Hey there, yes, unfortunately the Xbox One is heavily reliant on the internet and needs an update straight out of the box. I know with the 360 you could get the updates from the web, but I can't find anything similar for the Xbox One.

Generally games with have an update as well, I'm not sure I've played one game so far that hasn't need an update from the internet. I would definitely wait until you have a steady internet connection.

 

I really appreciate the response. i looked all over for an answer to the question until you came along. Anyway I guess I will wait till I get some internet. Looks like I won't have next gen for a while. Sucks not having enough money for anything.

 

My pleasure mate, I know you would probably love to jump in straight away, but honestly, the experience will be sub par without some kind of internet!

If you had the option of maybe taking the console somewhere that has a connection (family or friend) to update and maybe do a game or two at the same time, you could at least play smoothly offline after that.
