    Xbox one Optical output for sound bar not working after update


    so after the recent update my Philips sound bar does not work, everything was working perfectly fine before I've been in contact with Philips they say it's an Xbox problem Xbox say it's not a problem with them but I am sure this has something to do with
    the update and the optical output , will it be fixed or do I need a new sound system?

    HDMI Audio & Optical Audio

    I have the XBOX One connected directly to my TV using the HDMI cable.

    Audio and video is working perfectly.

    I also have a Polk Sound Bar that does not have HDMI. It does have optical, so I have the XBOX One connected directly to my Sound Bar using the optical cable.

    I am not getting any sound from the Sound Bar.

    Both the HDMI Audio and Optical Audio is set to "Stereo Uncompressed" in my Settings Menu.

    What am I doing wrong?

    I have been reading some articles online stating that the optical output only delivers stereo at launch, and that Dolby Digital will be coming post-launch with an update.

    Could this be the reason why my Sound Bar is not working - because it needs Dolby Digital?

    Thanks for your time. Hopefully someone can help me.

    Sorry to hear it. Have you tried the following steps?

    1. Power cycle the console by holding the power button on it for 10 seconds until it shuts down

    2. Power cycle then unplug the console and let it sit for 5 minutes

    3. Unplug the optical cord, power cycle, plug the optical cord in, restart

    4. Check settings to make sure the audio is marked correctly

    To build off of Onyx's post, how is your sound bar currently set up? We recommend having the audio output go out via HDMI, and then connect the sound bar to the TV's optical audio port. Check the suggestion under 'Audio receiver with optical or soundbar'

    Nov 2012 update causing issues with my 360

    The Nov 27 update seems to have killed digital audio output from my 360.

    The boot sound effect when the xbox logo comes up still works in full surround, but all sounds after that no longer work through the fiber optic digital audio output.

    we like to connect an external speakers. Is it possible ? and How do we need to do it ?

    As WhiteyBlack2 says you can use the optical output. I have a sound bar running off mine and it works fine.

    Check your
    audio settings    , and make sure "Optical Audio" isn't set to "Off".

    If that still doesn't work, try checking the physical connection between the sound bar and your Xbox, and make sure the optical connectors are secured. Also make sure the optical cable isn't bent in any way; since optical audio uses light to transmit signals,
    extremely sharp bends in the cable can potentially block the light inside the wire and break the signal.
