    Xbox One Optical Headphone Solution

I have had my new Xbox One for about a week now. I also bought Turtle Beach Ear Force X07 headphones that came with the adapter for the wireless controller. After I get things set up and had a chance to play around with the setup, I was less than happy with
the headphone interface through the controller. After applying the patch for the adapter interface, I was less than happy with the sound. The headphone are well made and very comfortable, but I was getting choppy and popping sound. I looked for a solution
to the problem on Xbox sites / Forums, but it looks like many folks are experiencing the same problem(s) and Microsoft is SILENT. So, I started trying to figure out a solution to interface headphones with the console. I have s set of Turtle Beach Ear Force
X11 headphones I use with my Xbox 360. They have a nice long cable and the volume controls built into the cable near the headset. I poked around on Amazon and found a optical/coxial to audio converter that looked like it would do the trick, so I ordered it
(Search on: FiiO D3 (D03K) Digital to Analog Audio Converter $31.99). It comes with a optical cable. I received the converter today and set it up - it works GREAT! Set the converter to Optical and plug the green headphone connector into the headphone jack
on the converter. Plug the headphone USB connector into a USB port on the console. Then, Open up "Settings" on the console and go to "Display & Sound." Under "Digital Audio" set "Optical Audio" to "Stereo Uncompressed." Close up "Settings" and everying on
the headset should be functional. Hope this helps frustrated Xbox One owners - Enjoy! - Happy Gaming...

    :)

There is a digital optical output (Toslink) on the Xbox One. You could use something like this to get sound out of a regular set of headphones.

    Triton Wireless Headphones

We have a pair of Triton Wireless Headphones and recently purchased an Xbox 360 E model. There is no optical port on the back of the E model so we cannot connect the headphones. Does anyone have a solution for this? Have contacted Triton and Microsoft.

  5. Hoy! I'm predicting similar issues when I try to upgrade my sound quality. Console... TOSlink... DAC/amp... headphones. I'm exploring Sound BlasterX g5 and (yes, a real company) Schiit Magni 2 & Modi 2 rigs. Thanks for the info, eh.

Things that should Change About Xbox One

Fix the damn optical port so we can get full use out of our surround sound headphones. How you put an optical port on the XBOX One and not have Dolby surround out of it from the moment you built the machine is beyond me.

"I like to play games and watch movies with an Astro surround-sound headset, which decodes Dolby 5.1 audio from an optical input cable. However, the Xbox One is currently only able to output stereo and DTS Digital through its optical output. My headphone
receiver can't read DTS Digital, so I have to output in stereo, and my surround headphones turn into regular old headphones. I've been asking Microsoft for the last week if they intend to add Dolby output to the optical audio port in the near future (it's
an option for HDMI output), but haven't gotten a solid answer on whether a fix is coming."

Last I heard from Astro at PAX AU, an adapter is coming. When it arrives is unclear.

It'll work as headphones just fine as the Xbox One has an optical out.
