    Xbox One ONLY downloads and updates when using personal hotspot.


    When connected to my regular internet service, wireless or tethered, Apps and games won't update or download. I also have issues logging into my xbox account. But everything works when I use the personal hotspot from my phone. I have tried all the generic tricks power cycling and resets. I have allowed port forwarding to my xbox. I've changed DNS settings. Reset MAC address. I need a more advanced resolution to this. Please help! Thanks guys!

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    Go to Settings > Power & startup > Under Power Options > highlight the Power mode, then press the "A" button on the controller to toggle between instant-on and energy-saving mode.

    Change DNS:

    - Go to Settings

    - Network

    - Advanced settings

    - DNS settings

    - Manual.

    (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings.)

    Then enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220"

    I'll also recommend you contact your Internet provider and ask them to open these ports for you

    Usually, there is a list of ports that is used by Xbox Live, which is this:

    Port 88 (UDP)

    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 80 (TCP)

    Port 500 (UDP)

    Port 3544 (UDP)

    Port 4500 (UDP)

    This is maddeningly frustrating. All the right ports are open. I've used the suggested DNS plus many others.

    The system shows the internet is working fine. All services are available. NAT open. But at best I get an annoyingly intermittent connection. But mostly I can't to anything that requires going online other than watching youtube. That seems to work fine.

    There was a problem with the update

    UPDATE: The issue is DEFINITELY Windstream. I enabled the mobile hotspot feature on my phone, connected my XBox One to it, and used Verizon to download the update with zero problems.
