Xbox One online gaming Internet usage.

So I just played a Game of Halo 5 with a friend on a custom map made by me in forge. We were in a party chat, and I hosted the game. It was just me and him in the party, and we played for roughly 1 hour. Around an hour and ten minutes to be accurate. I
use a Telstra 4GX iii modem thingy with 29gb a month. I've read online that Gaming online should use roughly 40mb, 100mb at most per hour. I checked how much internet it had used at the end of the hour in the console network settings, and it racked up to 212mb,
in ONE hour of online gaming with ONE friend. The console wasn't downloading any updates, and the Modem is using WCDMA, with LTE and another 4G option being available (I'm using WCDMA because I've read it's 3G, and that 3G uses less bandwidth than 4G). Is
this normal to be using so much internet, or is there something I am missing? Is there any way to reduce the amount of internet used in so little time? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as this is becoming an issue for me and is starting to annoy me.
If any more info is required, feel free to reply and ask. Thanks for any help.

    :)

If you are talking about internet plans, online gaming uses a lot of data and can be particularly bothersome for users with plans that are limited on usage. If this is your case then your options are limiting the amount of time spent playing online games,
or an unlimited internet plan. A good portion of the game Happy Wars is playing with others online and will use a lot of data.

Using Forge can be pretty heavy on data plans, because it's constantly having to update the map. Playing the games maps would use less data because it's essentially just control inputs that are being transmitted.

If you're really tight for data, I'd avoid using things like Forge or other map editors.

I played then for roughly 60 minutes, played in Swat and Team Action Sack. Had a fireteam for the entire time, and and had a party for the last 5 minutes, with the same person. It used 150mb. Roughly. Is that pretty much normal?

  6. I generally would not recommend using capped data plans, because Xbox Live isn't exactly designed to help accommodate those with strict data caps. The amount of data each game uses for multiplayer wildly varies by how the game is designed, what game modes
you choose, and basically anything you do.

100-200MB an hour for Halo 5 sounds reasonable, if not conservative. Forge and custom games/maps will likely require some sizable downloads, so I'd be careful around that.

If 200MB an hour was used for multiplayer gameplay, that's roughly up to 145 hours based on your 29GB data plan, assuming you're using the full 29GB for straight-up Xbox gaming, and nothing else. Take it with a grain of salt, though. Whenever you're connected
to Xbox Live, you could be downloading anything at any given moment.

I need to play online Xbox one with out every system update ;(

Hello, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

It's important to note that it is generally not possible to prevent Xbox One updates and still play online. Xbox updates often include important bug fixes, security updates, and compatibility improvements necessary for online play and a smooth gaming experience.

Microsoft regularly releases updates to improve the performance, stability, and security of the Xbox One console. These updates are designed to ensure compatibility with the latest games and features, as well as address any known issues or vulnerabilities. While it may be frustrating to deal with updates, they are necessary to maintain the functionality and security of your Xbox One.

Playing online typically requires the latest version of the console's system software to ensure compatibility with the online services and other players. If you choose to skip updates, you may encounter various issues, such as being unable to access online features, experiencing connectivity problems, or being unable to play certain games.

It's worth considering alternative solutions to address your internet limitations and minimize the impact of updates on your data usage:

    1. Use a wired internet connection: Whenever possible, connect your Xbox One to your modem or router using an Ethernet cable. Wired connections tend to be more stable and can provide a more consistent online gaming experience.

    2. Monitor and manage data usage: Keep an eye on your data usage when using your phone's mobile hotspot. Set data usage limits on your phone or use third-party apps to track your usage. You can also check if your mobile carrier offers any data-saving features or plans that are more suitable for gaming.

    3. Schedule updates during off-peak hours: If you have limited data or slow internet speeds, you can schedule updates to download during times when you're not using the internet heavily, such as overnight or during early morning hours.

    4. Consider public Wi-Fi or alternate internet options: If available, you could try connecting to public Wi-Fi networks with larger data allowances to perform updates. Additionally, you might investigate other internet options in your area, such as low-cost internet programs or community-based initiatives that provide affordable or free internet access.

While these suggestions may help mitigate the impact of updates, it's important to understand that regular updates are crucial for maintaining the functionality, security, and compatibility of your Xbox One console.

    Best regards.

    BANDWITH USAGE

Not sure what you mean but the DNS Server is owned by your Internet Provider, it translates the address you type into the address bar into a numeric address of the server you wish to access.

The IP Address is own by yourself / internet router.

The bandwidth usage that is displayed on your Xbox One displays how much usage your Xbox One is using through your internet router / internet provider.
