Xbox One on carpeted floors, horizontal or vertical?

I just got a new Xbox One last weekend and on some past consoles I know there were some overheating issues involving carpet floors. Does it matter if the Xbox One remains horizontal or is it a better idea to keep it vertical? Right now I have it vertical
with the disc drive at the upper end.

Is your Xbox in a vertical or horizontal position?? And is the floor that the Xbox on carpeted??



Talking from experience I know that having an Xbox horizontally on a carpeted floor can make it very hot.

I dislike the idea of "Gun Mastery" or whatever...but we'll see what happens once its available for Xbox. About CQ maps, I believe they focus more on a vertical layout instead of horizontal. I like the idea of fighting inside a building with multiple floors,
it intrigues me.

It is really important to keep your Xbox One horizontal! Vertical is not a recommended setup. As for the carpet, it doesn't really matter, as long as all the vents (sides and top) are cleared. But it is even better if you put it on solid ground.

 

I find that if I put the console upside down or at a angle it works better. wrap it in blanket and set something heavy on it. this should fix any issues you maybe having.

 

Horizontal. Vertical in anyway shape or form will cause many issues with the disc reader, and cause many problems. As xI Xbox One Ix said, keep it horizontal, and as long as its properly vented, it should be fine.

 

Gotcha. Thanks for the help. Since I've had it vertical for just this short time, could that have been the reason that sometime the disc won't read or says that it's invalid?

My carpet is not like a 70's style deep pile shag carpet, it's the typical apartment carpet. But now I have moved the console to the horizontal position.
