Xbox one on 802.11x internet.

So I've always had an xbox since I was 12, and I loved the 360. But now I'm in college dorms and I find out I cant play xbox live. I bought the xbox one assuming it could play on 802.11x like the playstation can. But no. I have tried connecting it to my
pc, manually changing the mac and ip to make it simulate my laptop, I've tried bridging and everything. The fact that there is STILL no support makes me angry. I heavily regret buying the xbox one, if anyone has any ways that absolutely will work please let
me know. I can't even play the one game I bought, Destiny. This is so aggravating. A couple of my friends were thinking about getting the Xbone on black Friday but when they came to check mine out 2 of them said they're not buying it because it doesn't support
802.1x. Windows 7, and 8 support it, hell the windows phone supports it. Why is the xbox one so behind when it's suppose to be "innovative" and "new". UGH Someone help!

Internet Explorer on Xbox One

I know it will likely run faster/smoother because of the new hardware - what I'm referring to has more to do with the features. For example, I always figured you couldn't watch videos on the Xbox 360's version of IE because it would undermine the whole point
of having partnerships with so many video apps on the Xbox 360. If that's the case, do you think that limitation, along with others, will still carry over onto the Xbox One? Why or why not? Discuss.

better hardware.... etc.. think about it for a minute... the IE app is only a year old or so... the guts of the Xb-360 are 8 years old... and when you look at the specs... I do not think a windows OS would even run on them now-a-days

Well, I solved it myself, I reset the MAC address 3 or 4 times and now all of a sudden it works -.-.

Hi there,

I'm afraid that for initial set-up an internet connection is required, since it will download an update and other steps that require an active internet connection.

After the initial set up is done, the console can be set to offline more (via the Settings) after which no internet connection is needed.

Keep in mind that games usually will have an update, so in order to fully enjoy a game, it's best to periodically connect the console to the internet and download any updates.

As alternative option, a wifi hotspot could be used for initial set up (via for example a smart phone), but keep in mind that the initial update can be quite big so make sure the data connection on the phone is capable of it and won't result in high mobile
costs

The Xbox One will need an initial update from the internet before you can use it offline. Ironic, I know, but there's currently no other way around it.

If you can, take your Xbox to a friend or relative's house to perform the update. If you bought it from a store like Gamestop, you can also check if the sales reps are willing to help you out there too.

You would first need to search the internet to find out what providers supply internet connections to your property and then I would recommend you carry out additional searches asking what the service is like for gaming based on the companies that can supply
you a service.

The only thing I would advise against if possible is using broadband supplied using cellular networks as these very often have very low data caps and are not responsive enough to allow for good online multiplayer experience.

I can't, it says that it's not connected to the internet. My xbox one is connected to the internet but when I try to play a 360 game on the xbox one it says that it can't connect to the internet.
