Xbox One offline play and System Link

Has Xbox One done anything to allow offline play, to be able to play games without an internet connection?

What about the ability to system link consoles?

Offline play on the Xbox One will always depend upon the specific game and how the developer set up the game.

In general the xbox one does allow offline play but my personal experience has been this.

-In order to play the games as intended an occasional connect is required for updates to the game and/or console (At least one full day a month if not more often)

-System link....No, there are no games that support LAN only play that I'm aware of in the US market.

-System link2 = I don't believe the console has a port for such without using a LAN (that still requires internet connectivity)

 

Just to further elaborate on what NewBlacksmurf, there is no support for local LAN play/System Link on the One for ANY games at this time. Everything in terms of multiplayer (except for couch co-op/MP) is over Live on the One at this time. There have been
no announced plans to change this If you want to see this feature return, I suggest going to the Xbox Feedback page and up-vote that suggestion if present (I would expect this to be there already) or make a new suggestion requesting the return of this feature.

Even if Microsoft does add this back into the One OS, there is no guarantee that developers will support it. Fewer games saw support for this as the 360 life cycle went on.

 

Offline games should work fine offline.

I haven’t been able to play Ryse without having an internet connection up.

The game won’t get past the opening credits without the internet connection.

I didn’t know if all games were like that, or if it was just Ryse.

 

That is strange as it should work without an internet connection. Is it disc or digital? And do you have your One set as your Home console? It kind of sounds like you have a digital version and you don't have the One set as your Home console, which would
be a reason why it would require an internet connection. If that is the case, then just set your console as your Home console and that should fix it.

 

Both Call of Duty: Ghosts and Advanced Warfare have System Link on Xbox One. So the console is capable of doing it, there's just no other developers that have chosen to implement the feature (Even Halo: MCC requires an internet connection for LAN play).

 

In regards to Ryse, you are required first to download the patch.

Once the game is completely updated, then you should be able to play the campaign only, offline. The other modes I believe require internet access.

I do have a disc and I did set The Xbox One as my Home console. I'll check to see if it still is and if the game needs and update.
