Xbox One Official Media Remote is now VERY slow

The Official media remote is now working really slow after the new experience update. It looks like you have purposely put a delay on the time the xbox one can receive an IR signal. This makes the official media remote incredibly tedious. Also not being
able to hold the xbox button on the remote for 3 seconds to turn off the console is incredibly annoying. As it currently stands the xbox one official media remote has become like a brick.

Where is it best to repost this problem so you guys can address this issue. I'm pretty sure its a simple fix that has been overlooked.

    :)

  2. Having trouble getting the new Xbox 360 Media Remote to work with my Xbox 360 console.

If this is the first time you've had/used an Xbox 360 Media Remote, you have to go to System Settings > Remote Control and change the setting from either "Windows Media Center" or "Both" (depending on which version of the Xbox Console you have) to "Xbox
Remote". For some reason, the default setting is the WRONG one. That's most likely what's causing your remote to not work.

If you ALREADY have it set to "Xbox Remote" and it still doesn't work, you may have a defective remote if it's an official Microsoft Xbox 360 Media Remote.

If it's a 3rd Party remote, made by a different brand, in all likelihood you've wasted your money on a remote that doesn't actually work for the Xbox 360. The only 3rd party remote I recommend and will vouch for is a very hard to find European model, the
Snakebyte Media Remote. It's the only one that gets good reviews. When I wanted a black Xbox 360 Media Remote with Backlit Keys, I tracked one down on eBay, and I can personally attest that it works every bit as well as the official Microsoft
remotes. But good luck finding one, they are very scarce right now. I consider myself very lucky to have managed to track one down. ^_^

  3. XBOX One Remote Control

    There's already the
    Xbox One Media Remote
, and you could also already use your smartphone as a remote for the Xbox (with the free, official Xbox App).

The latter option pops up your smartphone's keyboard whenever text input is needed on the Xbox.

Other than the lag it has, my biggest annoyance is that I can no longer use the play forward or back buttons, the rewind and fast-forward ones work but I can't skip to the next episode in the Media Player app.

Same here. After the update, the response time is super slow. I loved using the remote to watch Netflix but now it's no use. Can't really scrub, moving around is barely working at best and hate that I can't even turn off using the Media remote anymore. Looks
like the press-on feature is removed for whatever reason.

    Fix this asap.

I am also experiencing the same issues with my Xbox One Media Remote, When i first purchased the remote it made things 10x easier but now it is slow to respond and i can no longer hold down the button for 3 seconds to turn my console off.

This started happeing about 2-3 weeks ago, i reverted back to using the Xbox One Controller for now until the Meida Remote is working again.

Mine is also completely unusable after the recent updates. I hope they fix the glitch quickly, as the remote is such a great way to control media.

Hey, guys, it might have been smart to not rely on "keyboard" events for *everything*, especially with key-repeat delays that don't make any sense.

That and, you know, defer focus in your terrible ListView virtualization for items that haven't loaded yet so you can scroll quickly without it going insane. Like when you are holding right to quickly scroll in Games & Apps and it jumps to the very end and
    focuses titles that aren't installed.

My remote will send a command for one keypress, and then the console will not respond to another keypress for 5 minutes. I've tried chatting with xbox support but the chat keeps getting disconnected. Is there an 800 number?

Also, is there a way to roll back the update so my remote works again until a better fix is available??

Xbox One Official Media Remote is now VERY slow

OK, so after chatting with support like 5 different times, they decided to let me know that the 'offline update tool' might work... pretty tedious, but once I downloaded and unzipped the OSUDT2 to an NTFS-formatted USB drive (empty except for the update
folder), and ran through the hard update sequence on the console with the USB drive plugged in... IT WORKS AGAIN. I have no idea why the same update bricked my remote when doing it automatically through the console while working when doing it offline, but,
    it worked for me.

Hopefully it will work for y'all, too. My current software is 10.0.10586.1026

Just coming here to post the same results. Media Remote worked great until the experience update made the remote very slow. If I hold a button, you can see the lights on the remote turn on (registering a key press) about once every 3 seconds. So for scrolling
through Netflix titles, it's terrible to use. It is not a battery issue, they've been changed with batteries that have been tested with a voltmeter to about 1.5V. Maybe I'll do the full system reset like another user commented, because this isn't the only
thing that has been a poor experience with the Xbox updates (the actual Xbox controller got screwed up too and needed an "update" from the system menu. lol, how do you screw up controller firmware? Buttons and sticks have been mastered for years, but in 2017,
you can't do the firmware correctly? grrrr)
