Xbox One Not Saving Game Clips

I’ve been trying to troubleshoot this problem on my son’s xbox for over a month. So far we have tried deleting all his game clips, doing a system reset but keeping his settings and games, and recently a full factory reset and whiped everything then reinstalled.
After doing this he was able to capture a couple game clips, then it started to not work again.

When he tried to do a capture of what just happened, rather than getting the little pop up that lets you know the clip was captured, nothing happens. No pop up, not clips are saved. But if he logs in to MY xbox one (we have two) and uses his profile, it
clips all game captures no problem. So it does not seem to be tied to his profile, but that xbox specifically. I looked through the forums and found others with similar problems but with no real solution and the threads have been locked. How convenient Mircrosft.

Anyhone else had this issue? Any ideas on how to resolve? I found one youtube video suggest unplugging and replugging in the HDMI cable, but that has not worked for us either.

    :)

    Turn Off Video Snapshots

When on the Xbox One home screen press the menu button and go to settings, then preferences, and uncheck where it says "record clips with game DVR." Saved clips can be found and deleted in the Upload app, not Upload Studio though. Highlight clips in the
"saved clips" section, press the menu button, then choose delete.

How to download Xbox one clips to pc? Step-by-step guide

Follow these steps to download Xbox one clips to your pc:

Open your Xbox one and scroll over to the community tab in the menu.

Now select “manage captures”. In this section, you will see all your Xbox one clips that you have saved on your Xbox one device.

Find the clip that you want to save to your pc and click on it.

Xbox One sometimes not saving game clips

    Hello Percy James,

Thank you for sharing this with us and welcome to Xbox Forums.

We understand that you are experiencing issues with your Xbox One not saving game clips. I'm here to help you with that.

Firstly, it's important to note that game clips are saved locally on your Xbox One for a short period of time before they are uploaded to the cloud. This is to ensure that your clips are not lost in case of any issues with your internet connection or Xbox Live service. However, if you have limited space on your Xbox One, it's possible that some clips may be deleted to make room for new ones.

Regarding your concern about game clips not being saved, there are a few things that could be causing this issue. It's possible that your Xbox One is experiencing a temporary glitch or error that is preventing the clips from being saved. In this case, I would recommend restarting your Xbox One and trying to save the clip again.

Another possibility is that your internet connection may be affecting the upload process. If your internet connection is slow or unstable, it may take longer for the clip to be uploaded to the cloud, or it may not be uploaded at all. To check your internet connection, you can run a network test on your Xbox One by going to Settings > Network > Network settings > Test network connection.

It's also possible that the clip was not saved due to a lack of available storage space on your Xbox One. To check your storage space, go to Settings > System > Storage. If your storage space is low, you may need to delete some games or apps to make room for new clips.

Lastly, it's important to ensure that you are saving the clip correctly. To save a clip, press the Xbox button on your controller, then select "Capture & share" > "Save last 15 seconds" (or the desired length of time). If you see the message "Game clip saved," the clip should be available in your "Captures" folder.

I hope this information helps you resolve the issue with your game clips not being saved. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Screen Shots

I have a similar problem too, I can take screenshots, I can record clips, but my problem is that I cannot save my captures from before I got Xbox Gold. Clips I can save if I edit them in Upload Studios and record clips now but I cannot save the old ones
through Game DVR. Screenshots I can only save if I took them after getting XBox Gold not the ones I took before. Is this a bug?

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with game captures on the Xbox.

    To help clarify:

    • Did you save the clips to an external, OneDrive, or internal hard drive of the console?
    • Have you logged into your account on a PC at Xbox.com to review your online captures?
