Xbox One not recognizing my Gold membership-cant play multiplayer

I hope no one else ever has this problem. It was very frustrating! I have 1yr gold membership on auto-renewal (good thru 2015) but every time I tried to enter a multiplayer game it would give me a "you need gold for this" message, or a similar message, and
prompt me to buy another gold membership. I tried all of the following to no avail:

Checking the NATs: They were OPEN

Checking wireless and Network connections: Full bars, full connectivity

Deleted and redownloaded profile: made no difference

Cleared the system cache by holding down power button for 6sec: made no difference

Cleared the Alternate MAC address: made no difference

Tried playing 4 different games from both the hard drive and discs: same issue, made no difference

After about 30-40 minutes on the phone with support I had a resolution. We had to literally "cancel" my Gold account, and they refunded me with codes for the remainder of my membership. After canceling my gold subscription, then re-adding the gold membership
(with the codes), it worked fine and I was back online. I was told this was a "known issue" but they had no idea how/why it happens. I should note I also have two 360's and neither had this issue. Only the Xbox one was experiencing this strange error. I can
only imagine that somehow the gold membership system file on the xbox one somehow got corrupted (as the 360s were A-ok). I hope nobody else ever has this issue, but if you do try the steps I did beforehand (start with the clearing system cache-hold down power
button), and if all else fails, call support and they can do the same for you. Hope this helps somebody! Game on.

    :)

1 Gold Account for the whole family

I don't have a 360 anymore, and don't have an Xbox One, but I would imagine that adding the account to console will automatically open up multiplayer to all users on the console.

    xbox live subscriptions

If your child wants to play multiplayer games on the 360, he will need a gold membership. But if he plays games on the xbox one, he wont need a gold membership as all accounts on a Xbox one has gold if the main profile has gold.

Playing a game with my new XBOX One S

You need gold membership to play online multiplayer games and the same goes for xbox one free games with gold

You don't need a gold membership to play single player games

If you're playing on a PC then you do not need to have a Gold membership. If you're playing on an Xbox One then you do need to have a Gold membership to play online multiplayer games.

As for the other systems, online multiplayer rules and charges will apply as per that platform.
