Xbox One not recognizing Ethernet Cable

Hello,

I have been using wired connection for years now and I haven't had any real problems until now. My Xbox One won't recognize that a ethernet cable is connected to it so I can not connect to the internet. This problem has happened before and I reset my Xbox
and it normally works but now it doesn't. I have resetted it numerous times, unplugged both the console and ethernet cable but it doesn't change. It has been over three and a half hours now and all it says is 'Go offline' and now I feel that I am out of options.
It was working fine last night and now that I'm back from classes it refuses to work. What exactly is causing this problem and how can this be fixed? Thanks on advance.

Can't Connect

So your Xbox is not recognizing the ethernet cable plugged into it? Have you tried a different ethernet cable? If you connect another device (laptop, etc) to this cable, does it work?

I also work technical support for an internet company so I may be able to help you.

Now have you tried to hook anything else up with that same ethernet cord or same port on modem/router? Usually when i come across this situation it's the actual modem or router causing the problem. Good Luck and I hope I can help.

What type of networking device terminates on the other end of the cable?

Are you able to connect wireless with your console?

Actually can you test another wire and port first? This could potentially fix the issue and report back if this helps.

You could also consider just getting a Wireless Adapter if you already have a wireless router. I think it's a good next step.

Jaska, appreciate your taking the bull by the horns and doing the troubleshooting you've done so far.

Is the cable a known good cable? Has it worked on a PC or other device?

If so, then try another port on your modem or router.

If that does not help, then unplug the ethernet cable from the back of the Xbox, get a flashlight, and look for bent or misaligned pins in the Ethernet socket; there should be eight pins, angled back about 30 degrees.

Should that all fail, then contact Xbox Customer Support and ask for a Hardware Agent.

Hey there Giacomo, I'm sorry to hear about your problem. It sounds like there is a problem with the Ethernet Port on your Xbox 360 Console. Do you have a WiFi adapter for the Xbox 360 somewhere that you can use to try if that does make a connection? Regards,
