Xbox One not recognizing any USB storage

My Xbox One suddenly stopped recognizing my 2TB Seagate external hard drive, which I had been using for a good year without trouble. I have tried virtually everything I can think of, and it seems that the problem is with the Xbox, not the hard drive. I tried
a new USB cable, adding extra power to the hard drive, different USB ports, playing with the power settings (e.g. checking/unchecking the "turn off external storage" box), rebooting the Xbox (full reboots, including fully unplugging it until the power supply
light went off), and checking the hard drive with SeaTools (my PC recognizes the hard drive and Seatools says there is nothing wrong with it).

The hard drive light blinks a few times when the Xbox comes on and then goes to a solid light, so it is getting power, but the Xbox will not recognize it.

After all this I also tried two other external USB storage devices that have media on them -- another hard drive, and a thumb drive. They do the same thing as the Seagate drive -- they light up, but the Xbox doesn't recognize them.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

I'd love to try to re-install the Xbox OS (i.e. re-install the last update) but I'm not sure there is any way to do that, short of fully resetting the Xbox, before assuming it is a hardware issue (and having to send it in for repair).

    Appreciate any help. Thanks

    :)

media player not reading files on external storage anymore

    Hey there -

    Have you looked through the
    troubleshooting guide
for Xbox One consoles not recognizing external storage devices yet? If not, please read through that and follow all the steps as provided. Also, if you are able to, try a different USB cable and USB port on your Xbox One to see if
    that helps at all.

Let us know if that helps!

    Can't update xbox with usb

Check your storage devices to make sure the Xbox is recognizing the USB. If its not there unplug it and plug it back in (don't restart the console). I had the same problem but when I removed and put the USB in again it recognized the update.

If not can you format the drive to run FAT32 (Connect it to a P.C or the Xbox 360) and format it there thanks.

I would remove the External HDD from the console and perform a full console power cycle by following these steps.

    1. Hold down the Power button until the console is fully powered down.

    2. Remove the power cable from the back of the console and press the power button a few more times to remove all power.

    3. Plug in the power cable and wait for the light on the brick to turn orange and then power back up.

I would also recommend checking out this troubleshoot page and see if any of the steps here help.

Had this same problem with my Seagate 4 tb drive. Plugged it into my 360, and then back into my Xbox one after a full shutdown, power cords all unplugged. It finally recognized my hard drive again.

Seagate 2 TB external hard drive is BAD, the factory marked date is 6/2017 that is not good.. so I had that replaced 2 times, then I gave up the seagate drives and I bought the MyPassport X WD drive, it's work great and never break on me. Best Buy store
ran out of My Passsport X WD drive, you can order it online.. so that make sure it's X after "My Passport" the X is the Xbox only..
