    Xbox One not recognizing a specific game on external hard drive


    Hi,

    I recently purchased AC: Origins and downloaded it to my friends Xbox One S. I then copied it to an external hard drive (WD Pass Ultra 1TB) that has many of my other games. I am 100% sure it copied, as I checked it like twice before leaving the door. I
    did this so I could play it on my Xbox that I have in my new apartment which is currently without internet acces.

    However, after I reconnected my external drive to my own Xbox, it at first didn't recognize half of the games on there, and after a few hard reboots of the Xbox it recognized all games on the external drive except AC: Origins.

    I am just wondering how this is possible, and if a solution is available that doesn't require internet as it wont be available at my place for another 2 weeks (and I really want to play that new gameXbox One not recognizing a specific game on external hard drive :)).

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is persistent on the External Hard Drive.

    Have you tried connecting the hard drive to a PC?

    Does the PC recognize the external hard drive?

    Does the external hard drive meet the specifications for the Xbox One?

    If the problem persists, I recommend to try a different external hard drive on the Xbox if possible. One thing we want to make sure, Are the ports on the Xbox One functioning?

    Perhaps your child's external hard drive is not working. Is your child's external hard drive recognized by the Xbox One? Does it turn on any lights?

    I think the only way to get the full 16tb would be to use four different hard drive enclosures and four 4tb drives. (I think?) You could only have two connected at once though.

    Keep in mind that if you get a bare drive and enclosure separate, make sure you get an enclosure that will recognize your drive. Many external enclosures won't recognize huge hard drives. Get one that will specifically recognize yours. The one I linked
    to will recognize a 4tb drive.
