Xbox One not recognising Blu-ray: Whirring Noise

Hey, i'm getting a problem trying to play Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. The Xbox One just flat out refuses to play the Blu-ray. I just bought the Box set and the Empire Strikes Back works fine. When you insert the discs the XBOX
one makes a whirring noise for Both A New Hope & Return of the Jedi but it does not for the Empire Strikes Back. All the Blu-ray's work fine on my PS3. Was wondering if anyone had a solution?? Cheers

Strange noise when trying to play a Blu-Ray

Hi Guys.

Was wondering if you could help me. I bought an Xbox One about two days after the release date last year. I've recently found that my Xbox makes a strange grinding noise when I enter a Blu-Ray disk.

Now I'm aware that several people have had similar issues, and I've seen a lot of issues on YouTube regarding grinding noises, but the noise mine makes doesn't seem to be as violent. It just makes a strange noise when I enter a Blu-Ray, and I actually have
to enter a DVD first, and then take the DVD out and put in a Blu Ray. It seems that when I put a Blu-Ray in, it's not booting up something for some reason, and that I need to put a DVD in first to boot everything up fully, and then enter a Blu Ray. When I
put the DVD in, I get the usually "whirring" noise you get when you put a DVD into a DVD player, but with the Blu Ray disk, it just makes a grinding noise and doesn't make that same "whirring" noise that the DVD does.

Do you think this would be the same issue as the standard Xbox One grinding noise that a large amount of people have had? What would you recommend I do next? Send the console off or take it back to the store I bought it from?

Post october update noise

same problem with blu ray noise... started before october update... installing titanfall and the blu ray started make this noise..

Having same problem here! the original trilogy won't play but episodes 1-3 will!

If the next xbox uses blu ray disks there will be no more need for disk changing. When the original xbox 360 launched the battle between HD DVD and Blu Ray was still going on. When HD DVD lost, Xbox discontinued that disk drive.

As for the noise, if you install the disk to the hard drive there is no noise.

Thanks for the advice. It appeared to work initially but then after a number of goes it didn't recognise a Blu-Ray disc.

I'll give it a few days to see just how many times it doesn't recognise a Blu-Ray disc to see if the issue has been reduced.

Any more ideas would be more than appreciated!
