Xbox One not recognised my Xbox Live email and set me up with new account

Hi - I have a new Xbox One - I entered my Xbox Live details using my email address (I know it's the correct one) and rather than draw down my Xbox Live account it set me up with a new ID and account. It didn't seem to recognise the email address as
already in use. Can anyone help please?

Account on Xbox won't work online, email address not recognised.

I've had our xbox 360 for 6 years or so. Created an account and never had to sign in again on the Xbox.

Trying to get my kids on Xbox live and it requires parental approval. Tried to approve using my email address (which the security dashboard shows) and it won't recognise it. Try logging in online and again , email not recognised.

So I thought I will create a new account , using the exact email address. Set up, and new gamertag. Tried to amend gamer tag to one that my account on xbox has and it states already in use.

So my Xbox has a gamer tag for my email address but nothing recognises it and my new account is using the same email address but different tag..

Xbox Account

Ok so I have my original Xbox live account with my @yahoo.com email, my email gets a lot of spam so with the new windows laptop I got I wanted to start a new email. While creating and personalizing my new laptop I created my new email @hotmail.com. Now
when I went to the xbox game app on my computer and tried to log in with my @yahoo.com account I instead created a new one on accident, so I got a new gamer tag and separate account set up. I want to delete the entire @hotmail.com Xbox live account (the one
that was an accident) and then switch my old xbox live account @yahoo.com to my new email @hotmail.com. So in the end my original @yahoo.com Xbox live account will just switch over to my @hotmail.com email and only have 1 single account and have it set up
to my laptop, how would I do this?

My brother in law is having a similar issue he signed in on my xbox one no problem tried to sign in on my buddies it was then asking him a parent has to sign him in first now he just got an Xbox one for his Christmas present and it doesn't recognize his
email and it created him a completely new account new name no gamerscore no rep no friends if anybody has an answer to this question please help otherwise he's just going to contact Microsoft directly

ya I know the password to my old email account that is what my actual xbox live account is set up too. but know I have to make a new email in order to take out my old email and that to me is stupid. I just want one email with every thing west up to it. don't
wanna have to jump between email just for this and all my other stuff like banking and cell and stuff is set to one email witch I wanted my xbox live to be to. I don't get why I cant close my account with out having to close my whole email. to me that is
stupid!!

I think i might have found the glitch, i am now signed in to my old microsoft account before i had switched it... all my payment options and subscriptions are on this account but the account i use on a daily basis is not recognised to any email... it has
recognised i am a subscriber to xbox live and made an account for me on my old email

So I actually got this issue sorted out today. It seems my Microsoft account had become separated from my email.

Because of this my unique ID for my Microsoft account was not been recognised which was stopping the xbox from recognising my account.

Someone from Microsoft sent me a email to rename my account again and setup a new email to go with my account.

Everything is now sorted and I can now sign in to everything.

Big thankyou to Marc C of Microsoft who sent me the email and got this sorted out for me.

I had this happen, and it was because I was trying to set up my xbox live account on my profile with an email address that was already a WLID (either a hotmail email, zune account, or something along those lines) Creating a new email address to use fixed
the problem for me.
