Xbox One not reading game or movie discs

I've been having trouble recently getting my Xbox One to recognize game/DVD/Bluray discs. When I put in a game disc and try to start the game, I get the message asking me if I've purchased this game and if so to insert the disc or go to the store to purchase
the digital copy. It takes many times of ejecting and reinserting the disc to get the console to recognize it and finally allow me to play the game. I have the same issue with DVD or blurays. I checked the discs and they're not dirty or scratched and I don't
have any issue playing the games I've bought digitally so I have a bad feeling my disc drive may be failing. Anyone else having a similar issue?

Xbox One not reading any discs

my Xbox one stopped reading any of my discs, blu-Ray or games. I've checked my discs and they have no finger prints or scratches. Sometimes after inserting, ejecting, inserting and ejecting multiple times it works. Do I have to do some sort of factory reset
or something? Everything else works, TV, previously downloaded games, etc. just my discs wont work. Now I have to watch my movies on my blu-Ray player and can't play games.

Xbox one not reading game discs

I heard that some of the older models had this weird issue and the fix was to set the console to energy saving mode. Also try disabling the BD Improve in the Disk and Blu-ray settings. Or try tilting the consoles front end up slightly. If its a hardware
issue then maybe try a local microsoft store for some advanced troubleshooting. Good Luck!

I read that sometimes lifting the front of the console slightly (like putting a game case under the front of the console) will help with some issues like this. It is worth a try.

It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
work.

Sounds like the laser in your console's Blu-ray drive has a hardware issue.

To test if your Xbox One X has issues reading discs, try playing a DVD movie disc. If can't read DVD movie discs either then your console has a hardware fault.

Note: It must be a DVD movie disc, not a Blu-ray movie disc.

There are two lasers in the Blu-ray drive, one for reading Blu-ray discs and one for DVD discs. Xbox One games use Blu-ray and the 360 console used a DVD drive.

Unfortunately it sounds to me like your Optical drive has developed a fault. There are two lasers in the drive assembly, one for reading Xbox 360 games and movie DVD discs and one for reading Xbox One and Blu-ray discs.

To see if your drive is failing, try playing regular DVD movie discs (not an HD movie discs as these are on Blu-ray format). If the DVD films fail to play then your drive is faulty and you'll need to send the machine to have this repaired.

Xbox 360 games are on DVD discs.

Do other games and / or movies work right away? If not, then the disc drive might be failing.

For example, I have a Day One Xbox One, and sometimes I have to insert the disc a couple times before my console will read the game / movie. If it doesn't read the game after putting in the disc and I try to open the game, then it will say I need to purchase
the game or insert the disc.
