Xbox One not reading any discs

my Xbox one stopped reading any of my discs, blu-Ray or games. I've checked my discs and they have no finger prints or scratches. Sometimes after inserting, ejecting, inserting and ejecting multiple times it works. Do I have to do some sort of factory reset
or something? Everything else works, TV, previously downloaded games, etc. just my discs wont work. Now I have to watch my movies on my blu-Ray player and can't play games.

    :)

Xbox One not reading any discs.

From what I've seen this is a common issue; especially with the first releases of the console. A month or so prior I noticed my Xbox had been making some loud grinding noises whenever a disc was in the tray. A couple of weeks later while attempting to install
Dying Light it began with the disc read errors. I tried another game and had no issue, so I assumed it was the disc and not the actual console itself. After I had returned the game (because the wonderful costumer support rep had wrongly identified THAT as
the issue) and tried the new disc I had received the same error.

Today I tried to play GTA V; which I've had no issue with before, and the same disc read error came up. I was hoping this was a one time thing, possibly able to be fixed with a simple hard reboot. I tried game after game, blu-rays,dvds, even a CD...nothing
worked. I spent over an hour researching this error, finding countless posts from other people experiencing the same issue. Apparently it seems Microsoft has no respect or concern for their costumers - I've not seen one person whose console wasn't out of warranty.
On top of that NONE of them were made aware at any point of the extended warranty being limited to 45 days of the initial purchase. Costumer service was also absolutely useless, and could barely form a coherent sentence.

I've always enjoyed Xbox more than PS, even with all the issues of the last generation console. This time though they seem to have absolutely no regard for their costumers since they knowingly put out faulty hardware, and then they tell US we have to pay
for THEIR mistakes. At the time I bought the console it was $600+. Had I paid for repairs this console would cost me overall almost $900. I refuse to be caught in this endless cycle again - you've sincerely just lost a costumer.

    Hey dude,

Sorry to hear about your troubles, however there isn't much that we can assist with in this case Xbox One not reading any discs :( As with any new gen of consoles, there are usually troubles with the first releases, sometimes you get lucky and nothing goes wrong, other times everything
can seem to go wrong. My good friend had a lot of troubles with the 360, but his launch Xbox One has not had an issue at all, so i think plain old luck can play a big part in it Xbox One not reading any discs :(

Anyways, I hope you get it sorted

    Cheers

Xbox One not reading any discs

    Hi Xianlee,

Sorry you're having issues reading discs. One thing to try is a hard reset. With the Xbox on, hold the power button down for 10 seconds. The Xbox will quickly turn off. After that, go ahead and turn the console back on (expect a longer boot time). Test your
games / movies and see if they work.

If that does not resolve the issue, then yes try a factory reset (link below). You will need to reinstall all your games but as long as you're online your game saves, and dashboard settings should be fine. if that doesn't work, then your console likely needs
a repair. Please use the link below to start this repair process on your console.

Another thing you can try before doing the factory reset is to head to Settings>Disc & Blu Ray and uncheck Enable BD Live then clear Persistent Storage 3 times and then hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down.

If that doesn't work then you would try the steps listed above.

Xbox One not reading any discs!

    Hi MoistCytheria,

Sorry you're having issues with your Xbox. There is no recall on Xbox parts regardless what other sites say. If support went through the troubleshooting, and from your description it does sound hardware related, your only option is a repair. See the link
below to get it started. I understand it's less than desirable, but it's honestly the only think you can do if you didnt purchase complete care with your console. Hope this helps!

    MW2 will not play

The Xbox series X will not read the MW2 disc, I have returned it and tried 3 separate copies of the MW2 disc, the console will play other games/discs and read dvds/blue rays as well. But will not read any MW2 disc I insert into the console. The disc will read on my Xbox one. I installed it there and network transferred all the data to the series X and upgraded all the data that was transferred but the console refuses to read the MW2 disc.
