Xbox One not powering on at home or at friend's place but working at the repair shop. What's ...

    Hey All,

Just a couple days ago my Xbox One stopped powering on. Basically when I hit the power button on the console, the power button lights up for a micro-second and makes that familiar beep noise too but then the light goes off and the
console does not power on. After doing some research online and also YouTube, I began to wonder if something was wrong with my power brick and so I even got a new power brick. Still the same issue. The console makes that beep and the power button lights up
for a second but does not power on.

Thinking then that it probably is an issue with the console, I took it to a local repair shop where they specialize in repairing consoles (my warranty is up). The weirdest thing happened because when the guy used my original (out of the box) power brick
that came with the console, the console powered on beautifully as it should. No problems whatsoever. And then he even tried using the new power brick that I had just purchased. The console turned on like it always should. Simply put, it seemed like there was
no issue with the console when he tried it on at the shop.

So I took the console back home and tried powering it up again and nothing happened. Same issue of it not powering on. I then took the console over to a friend's place. And it failed to power on there too. Frustrated and angry, I took the console back to
the repair shop and it worked perfectly there with both the original power brick and the new one I had purchased. Just to be super sure, I took the console to another shop (they only sell consoles there) and asked them to try it. The console worked beautifully.

So I am stumped as to what to do. For some reason the console is refusing to power on at my home and even at my friend's place but it chooses to work like it was all good at both the shops I went to.

Could someone kindly tell me what I should do or if there's something that I am totally missing out on in this situation. Frankly it is weird that this should even happen. Is there something wrong with the console? Is something messed up in the power brick?
Does this have something to do with the electricity supply at my and my friend's place?

FYI I've been using the console for over two years now. What should I do?

    :)

  2. Unable to play downloaded content. FIFA15

    Hi there,

I am unable to play FIFA15 after downloading the game at my friend's place, onto my Xbox One.

After bring it home and starting it up, I am unable to play the game. I have logged in to my profile but it keeps saying that I need to sign in to xbox live. I do not have a internet connection at my area that is why I downloaded at my friend's place. I thought
that you would not need to be online to play the content ?

Ok, I've had this problem for a whole year, so I'm kind of an expert on it! Xbox One not powering on at home or at friend's place but working at the repair shop. What's ... :p Here's what you should do....

Bring your Xbox to a friend's place or something or to SOMEONE'S HOUSE WHO HAS AN XBOX AND LIVE, and try out Xbox LIVE on a different internet connection. If it works at a friend's place and not at yours, the problem probably is your router/modem.

Still not working? Keep looking around on the internet for solutions! The problem may actually be your console itself, but I highly doubt it. (Unless you dropped it on it's head when it was little Xbox One not powering on at home or at friend's place but working at the repair shop. What's ... :p)

I would be very interested to know how you are plugging this console into the mains at your's and your friends home.

Have you tried plugging the console directly into the mains? And by 'Directly', as in no extension cable, power adaptor? Does the repair shop plug the machine directly into the mains?

I would say your supply is fine, but if you have or are plugging your console into any surge protected plug/adaptor/power strip, this can cause issues with the console voltage. The console does not work well with power strips/adaptors because the power supply
    is already surge protected.

Try plugging your console either directly into the mains or via a power strip that contains no surge protection. If the console works fine now, problem solved. If not, get your console repaired by Microsoft. When you receive the replacement, do not use
the power strip or adaptor you used before.

So for nearly a year and a half, the console was plugged to an extension cable and it worked fine until a few days ago. After this issue happened, I tried plugging the console direct to the mains and nothing changed. The same beep sounded, the power button
lit up for a second but the console never powered on. I tried the same at my friend's place. Plugged it to the mains, same issue. Plugged it to an extension cable, same issue.

The repair shop connected the console to the mains and it worked perfect. Which is why I am at a loss to figure out what on earth is going on here. The console worked just as perfectly at another shop I took it to. When I asked them what the problem is,
they say that the console is working perfectly and that they can't see an issue with it. The worst thing for me is that I can't reproduce the issue that i am going through at home when at these shops and so naturally they think that there is nothing wrong
    with the console.

I'm wondering if I should possibly contact an electrician to come and have a look at the mains and plug points at our house. But the weird thing is that all of my other appliances are working fine as they should like my PC's, TV's etc. So I'm pretty stumped
    over this situation.

It could be an issue with your power. Make sure that your cables are securely connected as well. Both to the power brick and the console. Always plug into the wall and don't use a power bar as the console has a built in surge protector.

  7. This sounds like you are plugging the console in to power strip (surge protector) or an extension lead. You will need to make sure you plug it directly into the wall. Otherwise the console wont receive the full amount power to run properly. Look on the
power brick if the light on the back of the power brick is a solid light then try to turn on the console. It should work.

Please let us know if this solves the issue, Happy Gaming!!!

Xbox One not powering on at home or at friend's place but working at the repair shop. What's ...

Yes. For around a year and a half, the console was plugged into a power strip and it worked just fine until a couple days ago. And now when I try to connect it direct to the wall, there's no change to the console. I can still hear the beep when I hit the
power button and the button lights up white for a micro-second but then the console doesn't power on. The power brick has a consistent orange light throughout and when i hit the power button, the orange light disappears to nothing for a micro-second and then
returns back to a solid orange.

But as I mentioned earlier, when I take it to the repair shop and they plug the console in directly to the wall, it works like a charm. No problems at all. And the power brick turns from orange to white too when the console powers on.

So I am absolutely stumped as to what i need to do. I don't understand why the console would work perfectly when connected to the wall at (both) repair shops, but doesn't work when I connect it directly to the wall at my home.

I've seen this rare issue and sometimes these solutions might fix the problem

Reset your reset your power supply unit by following the instructions here-Xbox One Power Supply Solution | Reset Xbox One Power Supply

You can also try following the instructions in this video here

You can try these official solutions too-Xbox One Won’t Turn On | No Power | Xbox One X, Xbox One S & Original Xbox One

My next advise would be to then either contact Xbox Support directly so that they are better able to understand and help fix your problem.

If that doesn't work, you might need to send your device in for a repair.

You could also browse through Youtube from some DIY solutions although it important to ensure that you do not break Xbox Services Terms & Conditions

Thanks for all of the advice. However none of the fixes work. For some odd reason the xbox chooses to power on at some places and it doesn't in others. No idea why. Will probably send this in for a repair but perhaps its maybe time to get a new xbox. What
is generally the life span of an xbox? The funny thing is that I have an Xbox 360 and it still works as it should. It's the newer Xbox One that has died and it's such a shame.
