Xbox One not playing through VGA

Hey y'all. I have a monitor with multiple VGA ports and am powering an Xbox One through one of the cables connected through an adapter. I ordered another VGA cable and VGA-to-HDMI adapter. I don't have any audio, though. Would optical audio work if I installed
the other cable and adapter?

Yeah. Although I did connect DVI/VGA cables to my Xbox One through conversion cable. Gotta admit it was a way noisy!

the game won't be nominated until next years VGA. the cut off date for game to be in the current years VGA is sometime in november. far cry 3 just came out 3 days before the VGA. so there is no time for people to actually play through the game before the
VGA's. it would not be fair to the games that have been out longer, or to far cry 3 itself.

Would it be possible for you to connect your PC to the VGA and then the Xbox to the DVI and see if that fixes the issue?

I can't think of anything that hasn't already been suggested other than it could just be the type of adapter that you have, or that the Xbox just can't output through VGA, or its something as simple as one the cables isn't quite connected properly.

I realize this post comes more than 2 years after the original question, but I was able to get Minecraft for Xbox 360 to play split screen through my SD television using these two components totaling about $25:

Plug the HD plug into the Xbox, and the audio into the TV. Plug the VGA end of the HD-VGA cable into the VGA-to-RCA converter, connect the Xbox USB port to the 5V power input on the VGA-to-RCA converter, plug the RCA video output into the TV. This tricks
Xbox into thinking it's plugged into a VGA monitor, and allows you to use split screen mode. The resolution is still readable on a 21" SD TV, and $25 is cheaper than an HD TV set.
