Xbox One not performing correctly

I seem to be having several issues with powering up, powering down, and slow performance. It takes my Xbox forever to power up and power down. When powering up it seems to be very slow loading up. Upon powering off, the light on the console itself will
blink for maybe a minute or two before completely shutting off. Also, when I am trying to load friends, I get an error saying that it couldn't load friends. It will also not load the activity feed on the friends app I hope someone can help! I have power
cycled and hard reset the system as well.

Hi! Not sure if I understood you correctly, does Forza Horizon 3 simply not launch? If so, try performing a hard reset/power cycle: Restart or Power Cycle Xbox One Console

Sorry to hear about the issue! First off, I have a couple questions!

1. For clarification, when you said you hard reset the Xbox One console, did you restore to factory defaults?
   
2. Is your Xbox One console plugged into a surge protector, or is it plugged directly into the wall?
   

If the Xbox One console isn't plugged directly into the wall power socket, try plugging it in there to see if the issue persists. Also, I would ensure your power mode settings are set to 'Instant-On'.

• Press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller and select 'Settings'.
  
• In the Settings menu, select 'Power & startup'.
• Under Power Options, select your power mode to instant on.

Try those steps and be sure your Xbox One console is plugged directly into the wall. Be sure to post back and let us know how it goes!

 

No I did not do a factory reset. Yes, it is plugged directly into the wall. It is working better now, must have been on Microsoft's end and not mine. Thanks anyway.

Can I ask what does it matter if connected to a surge protector? Mine is as it's an extension which I require. My console takes about 30 minutes to finally turn on, freezes, won't load games and generally acts like a petulant child.

 

The Xbox One PSU already has a surge protector, plugging the console into another surge protector will cause issues and is not recommended.

 

I'm having a possibly related issue where "instant on" mode has stopped working. I use instant on all the time, and I have for the past 7 months. However, out of nowhere, now my console can't stay in instant on for more than a day or 2 without the instant
on function failing. It won't turn on by saying "xbox on", nor will the controller turn it on. The light on the power brick turns orange on its own, without being touched or unplugged... and as that would indicate, it's no longer able to turn on normally.
Then when I do turn it on (by pressing the button on the console) it does a hard restart, as if it's in power saver mode (but it's not).

I'm afraid that this is a response to some sort of system crash, which would have me worried that my console is failing altogether.

I've had this set up for several months and nothing about it has changed, yet suddenly this issue is occurring. Any ideas? Thanks!

 

I've now plugged it into the wall, done all the power up/down advice and I have been sat waiting 25 minutes for the console to turn on. The power light is on but nothing on the screen. Can't believe firstly I paid through the nose for a day one edition
black brick while everyone who buys one now saves £100 or more than me and secondly they can play there's while I'm sat here waiting for it to just turn on!?!!?

 

Goose USM, wow that's really unfortunate. I'm sorry to hear that. If your warranty hasn't expired, you should definitely take your console up to the microsoft store (or call support), because they're actually pretty good about getting customers replacements
for free. If you can make it to a Microsoft store, they'll usually exchange your xbox for another right then and there (if your warranty hasn't expired).
