Xbox One Not Highlighting Selections in Apps (Prime, Netflix, etc.)

Thank you for the message. This solved my problem as well.

To summarize (for search engine optimization purposes): using the Amazon Prime Video app on the Xbox One game console, I couldn't tell which button, option or movie was selected as I moved my cursor around the UI. On other versions of the app, selected options are filled with orange or have an orange outline around them. My problem was that on Xbox One, the buttons wouldn't be outlined in orange and I couldn't tell what was selected. From the original question, this may affect Netflix and other apps too.

Solution (as stated by cashu2, I'm just repeating it here so others can find it): Turn off "High Contrast" mode in the Xbox Settings application.

• Hit the Xbox Menu / Guide button (white button with the xbox logo X in it)
  
• Select Settings from the menu, or go to Xbox Home and select Settings from there
  
• Choose Accessibility from the main Settings menu
  
• Choose High Contrast on the list of buttons on the right
  
• Click the "High Contrast" drop down box (it has a little down arrow on it).
  
• Change it from the current setting (there are three) to "Off"
  
• Click the Apply button
  
• Go back to Amazon Prime and the highlight will appear.
  

I had this same problem and I was able to fix it by turning off “High Contrast”. Go to: Settings/Accessibility/High contrast

Select the High contrast drop down, set to Off, Apply. Hope this helps.

Can you confirm for me if this problem also happens in other first-party applications, like the Xbox Store app or the Edge app for instance?

If the problem is only happening inside of third-party apps, then it may very well be outside of Xbox's jurisdiction. You will need to submit the feedback directly to those app developers that are having issues with the highlighting inside of their apps.

Netflix voice commands are NOT highlighted in green, unlike the rest of the xbox apps, which is obviously confusing.

Here is a list of the Netflix voice commands:

Firstly, make the kinect go into listening mode by saying "xbox select"

While xbox is listening you can say:

(on profile select screen) "Profile one", Profile two" (etc....)

(when scrolling through lists on the Netflix home screen) "Show more" , "Show previous" , "Next list" , "Previous list"

(select a film/show to watch) "Select 1" , "Select 2" , "Select 3" (etc...) or "Play 1", "Play 2" (etc...)

(when on film select screen) "Play", "Play from beginning", "Add to my List" or "Remove from my list"

(Whilst watcing a show/film) "Xbox play", "xbox pause", "xbox fast forward", "xbox rewind", "xbox stop" (no need to say xbox select first with those commands)

(During a show or on select screen) "Back to browse" (takes to the Netflix home screen)

(Other commands when at the netflix home screen) "Exit Netflix", "switch profiles"

Remember to say "xbox select" to put Kinect into listening mode before using these commands.

It's not a fix to the issue, but to Unintall Netflix or any other App on Xbox One, Highlight the App on the home screen and press the start button (or whatever it's called now) there will be a pop up menu. Select 'Manage App' and you will be given options
to uninstall.
