Xbox One Not Detecting Connected Headset

If you encountered the following issue please leave a comment to attract more attention to this thread so we can get a fix.

Issue: Xbox One is not detecting headsets after the system has been on for a prolong period of time.

Note: Controllers and System has the most recent updates. This has occurred since launch.

Headsets used: Turtle Beach XO Seven, stock Microsoft XBox One headset

How to reproduce:

1. Turn on console via voice command or pressing the XBox button on the system.

2. After a prolonged period (>1 hour) turn on the controller with the headset attached.

3. Join a party or game and try speaking into the mic.

4. Notice that there is no mic pick up indicator.

Verified the issue isn't caused by one of the following:

1. Check if Mic is muted.

2. Check if Mic is too far from your mouth/not speaking loud enough.

3. Check if the controller is On.

4. Check if all cables are connected correctly.

Current Solution:

Fixable by turning off the XBox One and turning it back on using the controller.

Preferred Solution:

On controller power up, detect headset attachment.

I'm Facing The Same Problem, windows is not detecting my headsets through my new xbox one controller with the 3.5 mm jack. Pls Someone help me out

Gears of War 4 LE Elite controller mic problem

Hi everyone.

My Gears of War 4 Elite LE Controller was delivered yesterday, direct from Sydney Microsoft Store.

My one problem is, is that my working Xbox One stereo headset unit with mic is not detecting my voice but .

My Gears of War 4 Elite LE Controller was delivered yesterday, direct from Sydney Microsoft Store.

My one problem is, is that my working Xbox One stereo headset unit with mic (tested on other controllers and is working normally) is not detecting my voice.

What I have tried is: Updating the controller, with and without the headset inserted. Connected the controller via USB (tried with 2 cables).

I have let the controller sit overnight with no power source at all.

I have swapped between 2 different Xbox rechargeable battery units.

Connected the controller via USB to my Windows 10 PC.

Have hard reset my Xbox One Gears of War Edition multiple times.

Tested the mic through various party chat sessions, even in the party alone. (When I use another elite controller and standard controller, it works fine).

I have re-synced the controller several times, even to my other Xbox One Slim and connected it via USB.

I'm all out of idea's.

I agree this needs fixing and quick I gave up on the adapter gone wireless xp400 no chat though lets hope its done soon

spent 5 hours on with support tring to fix a similar issue, try to "re sign in" hit home go to top left and "choose this person" again then see if it works.

Hello there,

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. Just to clarify, have you tried to update the controller, or connect the controller to the Xbox One with a USB cable? When you connect the headset to the new controller does the controller detect the headset and
there just isn't any sound coming out of the headset? or does the controller not detect the headset at all for either controller? Does the headset work on other devices?

The Xbox system does not detect the mic and there is no sound coming out of the headset.

When connecting to a PC or phone the headset has sound. Although I did not test the microphone to see if it was detected at all. I will attempt that later

I still think the issue is with the Xbox one S controller that originally came with the console.

If the Xbox One console doesn't detect the headset you're using, this may be due to hardware compatibility issues. Let's isolate your concern by answering the following questions:

Where did you purchase the headset?
Are you connecting the headset to the console via wired or wireless?

To make sure that the headset is compatible with Xbox One, we suggest checking the package you've received when you purchased the headset. See if there's an Xbox One logo on the label.
