    Xbox One not connecting to Xbox Live when playing backwards compatible games.


    Hello, I have searched far a wide for a solution to my question. It seems others have had a similar issue, but there is no clear solution.

    My problems is: I can connect to xbox live at my home screen on my Xbox One, but when I go to play Black Ops (the OG) I get into the game and it asks me to "Sign In" and the only option for me is "Download Profile" - now this is where everyone else seems
    to be able to fix their problem and just sign in using their name and password - but when I click download it says "Cannot Connect to Xbox Live, Test Your Connection" ... only problem is, is that I am connected, I can click the middle button and see my friends
    online. I test connection and it says its fine and I go back to the game and I go round in circles.

    I have pressed both the start and menu button and looked if there were any profiles to delete, there were not. I cleared the local xbox 360 storage on my xbox one and uninstalled and reinstalled the game and I am unable to play backwards compatible xbox
    live because I can not download a profile because it will not connect to xbox live... as you can see its frustrating. Please provide a solution.

    Hi there,

    please double check if your Xbox One console is fully updated (and connected to Xbox Live) since this is a requirement to install a Backward compatible game.

    When using a disc the backward compatible game will still be downloaded from Xbox Live, since that is the backward compatible version (it will require the play disc to be inserted in order to play the game)

    Since you mentioned discs, please be sure to insert the correct one (when console is connected and is updated). that usually should trigger installation.

    What exactly happens when you try to play? Make sure your Xbox One is connected to Xbox Live, as Backward Compatible games require an update to play.

    Let me straighten this confusion up. Any Xbox 360 and original game that is on the
    Xbox One backwards compatibility list will work just fine on an Xbox One - regardless of whether you own a
    digital version on your Live account or the original game disc. You will need to be connected to Xbox Live to download the game.

    Not all Xbox 360 games are yet backwards compatible, and some games may never become BC due to licensing issues, but, new games are being added all the time. Any digital game that you have on your account that is not currently BC will become available to download
    for free from the Xbox One's 'Ready to Install list' when it becomes backwards compatible.
