Xbox One not automatically downloading updates

OK, so i've had my Xbox One since launch, had to get a replacement as i had a faulty disc drive but that's by the by.

My power options are set to Instant-on, with ticks in Wake up Xbox by saying Xbox on, and in Automatically download updates, but not in resume games quickly.

Over the last couple of months there have been various game updates rolling out, but not one of them has downloaded automatically. Whenever i go to launch a game, it says there is an update required. For example, today it's downloading a 2.1gig update for
Powerstar Golf. Couple days ago there was a huge update for Garden Warfare that it started to download only after i tried to launch the game.

I thought the whole point of this "Automatic Update" function was to make it so i don't have to wait for 1+ hours for an update to download before i can play.

To add insult to injury, you can't update a disc based game without the disc being in the drive, so even if auto updates were working, it wouldn't update my two disc based games (Forza and Dead Rising, which recently had a huge update). without the disc
being in. Also, if i try to launch one of these two disc games and a patch is required, i then can't launch any other game at all without doing a full on disable of Instant-on, and full shutdown. Otherwise, any game i try to launch shows the loading screen
and then just drops back to dashboard again until i do the aforementioned shutdown.

Even the Blu-ray player, which is utter garbage by the way and drops to the dashboard randomly while playing discs, needs to be updated manually every couple of weeks.

There is nothing wrong with my internet connection, both my PS3 and my PS4 have no trouble connecting to PSN in the middle of the night to sync PS Plus or download updates and purchases automatically, it's just the Xbox that isn't living up to it's advertised
functionality.

I too am having issues with the auto updates not fetching whilst the console is powered down. What router do you have as I have a feeling this is a network issue.

 

I have two routers, a D-Link and a Netgear. I've tried both and the Xbox One doesn't auto download with any and yet the PS4 does. I think the Xbox did download updates initially during the first month or so but hasn't for several months now.

In answer to the other question, yes i have the options set to auto download.

 

Im having the same issue, though I think mine is to do with the fact that as my Router is in my wife and I's bedroom and is turned off every night (Seriously, its the Virgin Media superhub and its like a rave at night..) perhaps theres some network system
timeout on the console itself.

Ive started powering the xbox on after Ive turned the router on, then turning xbox off again to see if that helps and it seems to.

 

I as well am not having any issues but I'm noticing you mentioned that you don't have the "Resume Quickly" option checked and I do. I know that the way it's supposed to work is when you shut your system down it's supposed to go into a Stand-By or Sleep
mode so it's never truly off and the system is programmed to fetch system and game updates automatically when it's in this mode. So it does require adequate power to run the system as well as a stable internet connection, obviously, to make this happen.

I would try turning that option on and see if it works any better for you. Please let me know how it works out so I can put a note into the development team to look into this.

 

I too am having the same issues, it's incredibly annoying. I have power mode to 'instant on' and automatically download updates and Resume games quickly also on and nothing ever updates automatic. Just goes to show you that even when you have all of those
options you guys mentioned 'on' that it still isn't working.

Anyone have any suggestions?
