Xbox one not auto downloading game updates

Hi, My Xbox one is in instant on mode and I can turn it on by voice, it has the option checked to auto download updates bit it does not. Today I was presented with a 2Gb Destiny update which Xbox did not auto download Any ideas?

Game Updates not Auto Downloading

Why won't my Xbox one X automatically download updates overnight or during the day? I have to start the game, then it closes and starts and update when one is found. My current settings:

Updates:

Console: Keep console up to date - Checked

Games and Apps: When this is enabled your Xbox will automatically apply background updates to your games and apps: Checked

Power and startup;

-Turn off after: Do not turn off automatically.

-Power Mode - Instant-On

- When Xbox is off, turn off storage - Unchecked

 

Xbox One Automatic Annoying Updates

Seems like its either not downloading the updates while you have the XB1 off or you are leaving it on in which case its not going to update until you turn it off your message isnt entirely clear in that regard. Considering you said you "normally do not turn my Xbox One however"

If you turn the XB1 off with auto update on it will update. If you dont turn the XB1 off it will never auto update you will have to manually do it.

Auto Update is a feature that is used when the Xbox is off but still in that low lower state. It doesnt work when the XB1 is on.

 

From what I understand, the console looks for updates everytime you switch off. Could be wrong though. Mine spins up randomly when i'm watching Ghost Hunters. Creepy stuff...............................

 

I had the same thing, and for me at least, its down to me transferring all of my games over to an external hard drive.

When I copied all of the game over (about two months ago) I had only played a couple of them since then, to get them to auto update I had to physically put each and every game disc into the drive. This basically finishes of the transfer process, because
every whenever I put a game disc in for the first time (since moving all the games over to the external HDD) it popped up with a message along the lines of "one moment, finishing install" or something like that.

Anyway I put every disc into the Xbox One last night, got the exact same message (apart from the few games I play regularly) and lo and behold, all of the games had been updated last night after switching the console off.

So that may be something to check, if you have got an external hard drive, just put each disc in once, it fixed all the updates for me at least.
