    Xbox One (Non-S) Sync Button does not initiate Sync.


    I have an Xbox One (non S model).

    Pressing the Sync button (left-front) initiates a gentle clickinging sound from behind the power light (front/right) but it does not start syncing - the power light does not flash.

    • The power button works.
    • The eject button works.
    • Wi-Fi Works.
    • The controller will work over USB.
    • The controller will NOT sync over USB.
    • The controller works with the Windows 10 adapter on a PC (the controller is not the problem).
    I have performed a hard reset (power button for 10 seconds) and this has had no effect, the problem remains.

    Can the console sync mode be initiated via a menu, without having to press the sync button?

    If not, which piece of hardware might have failed and need replacing?

    Actually, I do not know if the entire board would need to be replaced, if all the buttons are soldered in the board, then yes, it will be necessary to change the entire board, however, the ideal is to take it to a repair center in your region to check the extent of the problem and which components are, in fact, needing a replacement.

    Unfortunately, there's no way to sync your controller to your console via settings, only with the physical button in it.

    Probably is that button, the issue. But you would have to take your console to a repair store in your region to be analysed. Since the original One model is no longer manufactured by Microsoft, Microsoft doesn't offer any repair services for it any more. :/
    Not a problem, I can do the repair.

    Do you know specifically which piece of hardware needs changing?

    The power button, the eject button and the sync button are all on the same board but the only thing apparently not working is the sync mode.

    Pressing the sync button causes a "click" on the far side of the console so I don't think the button *itself* is faulty as it's having an effect elsewhere.

    Any help appreciated!

    You have to sync your second controller, via the Xbox One's sync button on the left, and the controller's sync button on the top.
