Xbox One no surround sound on my home theater

    Xbox One no surround sound on my home theater


    I am having trouble getting surround sound coming from my Xbox one. I have a SONY home theater system that has 5.1 surround (2011 model) . My Xbox one is connected to this home theater with HDMI. The TV is also connected to the home theater system with HDMI.
    There is no direct connection between TV and Xbox. And I have no cable box. It's a rather simple setup.

    I did did a little search but didn't find anything relevant, except switching on surround sound under setting<TV and OneGuide<audio and Video. But that did nothing. I was wondering if the good folks here have experienced similar problem or knows what the
    issue might be. Thanks.

    No Xbox One audio through Sony Surround receiver only get Sky Tv audio?But i can through the tv.

    You would actually want your hd box connected to your xbox one then your xbox one to your surround sound and then the surround sound to the tv. this way, your tv will display the picture but your surround sound will intercept the audio. the surround sound
    works as and audio/video in AND out device. Your sky tv wouldn't connect to the xbox at all as far as I know, that would have to be plugged in directly to the sony surround sound and you would change the input on the surround sound rather than the tv.

    Missing sound with my home theater system

    I'm having a problem setting up my home theater to my xbox using an optical cable. I have the Surround sound (Beta) option selected. I also have optial audio selected as 'DTS Digital Sound', and HDMI Audio to 'off'. But I still have no sound coming from
    my home theater system. I did a sound test with all the speakers, and they work

    Xbox One no surround sound on my home theater

    First, try going to Settings > Display and Sound > In the middle, change the "HDMI Audio" setting to '5.1 uncompressed'.

    If you still can't get 5.1 audio to your sound system, try buying an optical audio cable and plug that from the back of your xbox one into your sound system and change the settings on your sound system to use the 'Optical In' or a setting that chooses that
    input. Don't forget to change the settings like the one above, but under "Optical Audio" choose "Bitstream Out" and change "Bitstream Format" to "DTS Digital Surround." The optical audio port is right between the HDMI in and out ports.

    Surround sound is only currently available from a DVD or Blue Ray. The Xbox One will not pass your cable surround sound through to your home theater receiver, it will only be stereo. There is a beta for this:
