Xbox One no longer recognizes my external hard drive's media content after the update

Before the update I had no issue at all plugging my external hard drive in and using the "media player" app to watch everything. Ever since I downloaded the new update when I launch the media player app I get the "No devices found" message. Is this a known
    issue? Are there any solutions?

The external is a Seagate 1TB external hard drive.

I should note here it recognizes my hard drive as a storage device, but no longer the media content on it.

    :)

External Hard Drive not recognized after update

Prior to the most recent update, my 1TB external hard drive held most of my installed Xbox One games. After my system updated today it no longer recognizes the external hard drive at all.

I have followed through the external storage device troubleshooting guide and followed each step with no change.

Was this affected by the most recent updates?

Having this exact problem. Everything worked great and I was watching video off of my external hard drive no problem but then I downloaded the update and it hasn't worked since. Tried doing a reset and trying different usb ports and different power settings
    and none of them helped.

  6. I am also having this problem. It's extremely annoying as I've tried everything Microsoft have suggested so far. This needs to be patched immediately.

I read some where that re-formatting the drive has help some. Is that something that you have tried?

Same issue. I have a Seagate 1TB external hard drive and the media player will no longer read it at all. I can no longer play my movies, pictures or music. Went through all the reformatting to see if that would help but it hasn't. This needs to be fixed
& patched, or roll back that update. Everything worked perfectly before the latest update.

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the later reply, I did not realize that there were responses actually being posted on this thread. An update on my issue personally; I realized the Xbox One reformatted my external hard drive on it's own without any noticeable prompts. What this
did was format the drive to be compatible with games rather than movies or music. After being reformatted I could not get other devices to even recognize its existence such as my laptop or desktop computers. After doing a bit of research I was able to re-partition
and reformat the hard drive back to it's original form and reload my movies / music. This process was a lot more complicated than the usual simple reformat. After I plugged it back into the Xbox One I actually got the prompt to reformat this time around and
declined. Media player from that point on actually recognized the data on my external and everything worked properly.

Make sure Xbox One did not reformat your external to recognize games only. Note I am also using a Seagate 1TB external hard drive.

Woooow, if that stupid dashboard update messed my hard drive then that is totally infuriating. There's no way I'm reformatting and repartitioning my HD and losing half a terabyte of media. I hope Xbox releases some sort of patch that fixes this soon since
it was an update of theirs that has *** everyone over.

If what Smith Animal says happened to his HDD happened to yours then it is too late. Your drive has already been reformatted for use with games and the media is already gone.

Are you able to access the media on a PC? If so then you have a totally separate issue than Smith Animal.

Microsoft fix the Xbox or you lose customers (and credibility)

I've just finished downloading/installing the newest system update for xbox one. The xbox now no longer recognizes my external hard drive. I have tried numerous times restarting the system, as well as unplugging/replugging in the external hard drive.
