Xbox One no longer reading discs

Last year for Christmas my friends all chipped in and bought me an Xbox One Assassin's Creed bundle. With Fallout 4 coming out I've been PC gaming a bunch the last few weeks and have only been using my Xbox for Netflix and Hulu. Well...today I decided I
should pop Rock Band 4 back in and get the new update. I can hear the drive trying to read, not the clunky grinding I've seen in videos, but a normal drive noise. I've seen a few tips/tricks on the internet like tilting your console or holding the disc a little
longer, but these don't work.

Was this maybe the new update to the new version of the dashboard that caused this? I haven't really used it since around then but it was reading discs fine just the night before Fallout 4 came out when I was playing Destiny. I've tried several Xbox One
games, Blu Rays (which actually completely freeze my system) and DVDs, none of them read.

Any help would be greatly appricated

360 backwards compatible game disc not reading

My xbox one not reading any xbox 360 backwards compatible game discs was told to report on here for help but I no it won't happen.

It looks like your consoles disc drive is broken but thing is to contact Xbox support directly to get this repaired or you can do this on the self service centre .-

Best thing to do is ldt the professionals at Microsoft handle this as if you damage something it may void the warranty.

It definitely sounds as if your drive is malfunctioning. I would suggest sending it in for repair. Check to see if it is still under warranty.

 

Yeah, check for your warranty. If it's still under warranty send it on in. Don't wait around like I did thinking it was the NXOE and they'll patch it cause it's not, it's your disc drive failing. I bought the same bundle Nov 28th 2014. My console started
being funny with one or two old disks around the 20th. I thought it was the NXOE at first, big mistake. Just after the 28th it got wore and wouldn't play more disks (none of which had any scratches). I took it in Dec 2 to the MS Store and BAM, disc drive
is failing, $115+tax+shipping to send it in for repair....

Convenient it dies right at the one year mark when the warranty runs out..such bullsh!t. I did up the math and the drive itself probably had less than 100 hrs of use on it in the year that it sat alone on its shelf very well ventilated...

If I have any problems with the refurbished console I'll receive back from their repair service I'm done with MS
