XBox One no longer plays audio from headphones or chat headset

In chat friends can hear me talk but I hear nothing. Changed setting to headset/speakers and can hear them talk thru TV. Thought maybe the controller was gimp but I tried several does it on all. Thought maybe headset was gimp so tried headphones and they
all show up as chat and I hear party chat in them but not the game audio like I used to. I'm assuming I clicked the wrong thing in the settings can anyone help? 5 days ago chat worked fine and I could mute tv and hear game thru headphones. Now nothing. So
confused. Everything seems to be working fine.

Wearing headphones and Xbox1 headset choose where headset audio plays from

Wearing headphones and xbox1 headset; determine where the audio from team/squad chat comes from. Why? Because, while wearing both headset and headphones, the headset is not next to ear; therefor I can not hear my squad/team chat. With the 360 I could choose
weather the audio came from headset or headphones OR BOTH! So on the next update, xbox 1 needs to allow me to determine where my squad/team chat plays from.

Just got the new xbox one controller from UPS today with 3.5mm jack

When you use this controller with a headset/headphones, is the game audio preset to come through headset/headphones or just party chat....or both?

Not headphones, the controller plug is smaller and used for chat, headphones won't fit. My 360 Turtle beach headset gets its game audio from the TV too.

Shouldn't have any effect on the audio coming from the chat adapter. The available audio settings should only effect the HDMI audio and optical out audio.

In game audio options will effect the audio quality of headsets or headphone using the chat adapter as the audio source though.

What is the specific headset you are plugging into the adapter?

Headset's, headphones, or earbuds with stereo sound will have the ability to have game audio along with chat volume that is adjusted with the adapter or in the "Audio" settings that will only appear when plugging into the 3.5mm port which you have confirmed
was the issue with the original controller.

There are some headsets however that do not have stereo sound and are strictly only meant to chat with others, and are usually referred to as chat headsets. These tend to only have one earpiece whereas stereo headsets will have two.

If you have a stereo headset/headphones plugged into the adapter, then the chat mixer slider that is usually found in the "Audio" settings will be controlled on the adapter with the game controller icon button indicating the game audio volume and the button
with the icon of a person indicates the chat audio volume.
