Xbox one - No color only when output set to 1080p but NOT 720p

Discus and support Xbox one - No color only when output set to 1080p but NOT 720p in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; Earlier today I turned off my tv which is fully capable of 1080p while the xbox console was still on.     Xbox one - No color only when output set to 1080p but NOT 720p


    Earlier today I turned off my tv which is fully capable of 1080p while the xbox console was still on. When I turned the tv back on there was no color in the picture - just black and white. I tried different cables with no effect. If I change the output
    within the xbox to 720p the color returns. The tv shows a picture with color if I change the input on the tv to my comcast box. Any ideas?

    Not a 4K TV - XBox one S will work ?

    It will work with an Xbox One S. But it will only output 1080p

    Xbox One X HDR in 1080p

    You'll be able to set the output of the Xbox One X to 1080p, and if a game supports HDR then the console will use it, I mean the Xbox One S supports HDR, so no reason why the Xbox One X would only allow it at 4K.

    Have you tried the console on a different TV or with a different HDMI cable? If so take a look at some of the steps in these support articles:

    Picture quality degredation, crushed blacks etc. with HDMI input

    I have my Xbox 360 running media center thru my Xbox one.

    I fixed this completely by setting the Xbox one to HDMI only with 24 bit color the standard color setting not the PC full range.

    Then on the Xbox 360 set it's HDMI to standard output not the intermediate or expanded.

    Now all my shows and TV look just like they do when I switch my TV to it's ota antenna input.

    I'm more interested in knowing if Xbox One S/X will support 1080p and HDR for gaming. I'm fine with ignoring 4k for now.

    Yes, it does. HDR does not depend on 4K output. If your 1080p television supports HDR, then it will work for the games that have HDR color palettes available. It is up to the developer to enable this option in their games.

    The only Xbox One family console that does not support HDR for gaming is the original, first-generation Xbox One.

    The only way you'll get games running at 4k right now is with a PC. Xbox one and PS4 won't ever get true 4k.

    I would set the xbox to output 1080p, since that's the best resolution you'll get out of an xbox one.

    1080p - 1440p - 2160p(4k), is the difference.
