Xbox One Needs repairing

Hi guys, I don't usually post on these forums but anyway here goes, I've had my xbox one now since it first came out, up and till now I've had no problems with it and it has worked just fine. Unfortunately it has recently started to damage my disks and make
a terrible grinding noise when it tries to read a disk, it now takes many attempts of ejecting a game in and out before it actually starts to play a game. I'm looking at getting this fixed question is I don't really know what to do, do I send my console in
for repair or do i wait for xbox to send me a replacement ? If anyone could help me i would appreciate it.

I wouldn't pay to have it repaired, but there are probably some online guides that might be helpful if the problem isn't too complex. It's also possible that someone who repairs Xboxes might buy it from you.

 

laser burn

If your disc got laser burn and you didn't move your xbox, then you may have a problem with your xbox, which may need repairing.

I have been having problems lately with bf4 disk..... hard to get it to start up..... takes many tries usually involving a hard restart.

But I haven't has this happen with any other game discs, so I'm not sure what to make of it.

 

I think MS ships a new system when order is created. Remember reading this around launch. Did you buy service plan? I did for peace of mind.

 

Advanced Exchange. They ship you a new console, just make sure to ship your old one back ASAP! MS will put a hold on your CC until they receive the dud console. I got mine in 2 days (Canada).

P.S. I was never charged this mystery $15 fee that has been discussed in other threads for exchange....

 

You ca. Flip tbe xbox up side down tap it firmly on the back turn right side up turn on and bam it will work check out utube on it

 

^^ works for my wife too. But you cannot watch that on Youtube.

 

Thanks for getting back to me guys, I'm going to send it in for repair which unfortunately will most likely take three weeks, that being said I think the wait wont seem long as I play mostly on my 360 anyway. Btw I've heard that hitting the xbox disk drive
upside down can void the warranty, correct me if I'm wrong

 

Hi I had exactly the same problem. Phoned xbox support on Friday evening who suggested I could either send the console off for repair as the disk problem is a known Microsoft issue, or try the retailer where the xbox was purchased. Phoned EBGames yesterday
morning and they advised they would simply swap the console for me. By Saturday afternoon I had a new console and am now just reinstalling all software. Not sure where you purchased your xboxone but I would go back to the retailer first - have to say ebgames
were great (they did say they'd had a few day one xbox ones developing disk problems and coming back - which sounds a bit ominous) Anyway good luck hope you sort it out as easy as I did.

 

Its good that they gave you another one mate, I got mine of Microsoft online store so I don't think I can swap it in store like you did

 

Is there an MS store near you? I wouldn't be so quick to discount the MS store idea. If there is one near you, I am almost certain they would take it and swap it out.

 

that's what I did, worked out great!!! they hooked mine up and confirmed the disc drive was on its way out and gave me a new one (console only of course) They offered me a 3 year warranty for 69.99 which I grabbed in a 1 second flat! Very easy all around!
