Xbox One nat type will not change from Strict. Please help.

I have had the issue with Xbox One since I got it at launch that my nat setting will go to strict and no matter what I do it stays or falls back to Strict. I have a "Hitron Technologies CGN" modem/router and I have done all the port forwarding that has been
listed on the xbox forums for the one. I have tried all the little tricks from various sources including going to the network/multiplayer connections and using the bumpers/triggers to reset the connection. Nothing seems to work. I am at my wits end with this
because constantly being stuck at a strict nat type is hurting my ability to join games and play with friends. If anyone has a resolution to this I would be greatly appreciated.

If it's still strict after you open the proper ports, try resetting your modem and router, then hard reset your console.

Just select your router and follow the instructions. Do not download anything from the site, it's not necessary. It's a safe site, but port forwarding manually is very easy.

 

" I have a "Hitron Technologies CGN" modem/router "........modem router combo is most likely the problem , get a modem ONLY and a router ONLY ( one that does upnp well ....netgears has both) modem router combos are not good at upnp or port forwarding or
anything gaming related imo.... you can tweek the settings and sometimes get it open but they usually revert over time or when the power flashes.....that was defiantly my experience (and several of my friends) ...

The problem with your Xbox One getting diagnosed with a strict behaviour is probably not caused by your modem/router device, but more of an issue if you connect through CGN (Carrier-grade NAT), or LSN (Large Scale NAT), where your "public" IP is actually
NAT'd within your service providers realm of address space.

This can easily be determined, by comparing the IP address that your gateway obtains from your ISP, which is often stated as the WAN, or Internet address. Then compare this address with the following IP address lookup tool:
What Is My IP? Shows your real IP - IPv4 - IPv6 - WhatIsMyIP.com® and let us know if the WAN/Internet IP address that your router obtains from your ISP is actually the same address, or if they differ from each other.

Keep us posted and we'll go from there.

 

Not to over right these two guys, but when you do the "hold all triggers" what type of NAT in detail do you get>? the recommended fix is based on the type of NAT. Cone is optimal, just reply back with that and ill give you my best advice.
