Xbox one nat type strict

Why is my xbox one nat type always strict? It's never strict on my 360, in fact it's hardly ever even moderate.

If it's still strict after you open the proper ports, try resetting your modem and router, then hard reset your console.

Just select your router and follow the instructions. Do not download anything from the site, it's not necessary. It's a safe site, but port forwarding manually is very easy.

I've watched videos on YouTube on how to change it to open & it worked. The question I have is, how do I keep it on open permanently? Every time I turn my Xbox off & then on a few hours later, it's back to strict. It's getting very annoying.

 

Do you still have the 360 connected to the same router as your xbox One?

 

Nah I just change the ethernet cable between the two when I play each of them, never have them on at the same time.

 

try going into settings, network, advanced settings, then select clear MAC. Your console will restart and your ip will be refreshed and your network should be open now.

 

You also need to power cycle the modem and router as well. (Unplug device(s) from wall for a minute, then plug back in causing a reboot of the device(s))

Make sure UPnP is enabled on your router AND no ports are forwarded. Having both enabled can cause conflicts.

 

i have time warner i had some issues, i put in the info i had for my ps4 and it changed my nat settings to moderate and i have a little faster download speed.

 

I cleared the mac and reset my router and just noticed that it says open on the network status in the settings ( I didn't think to check what it said in the settings before hand so it could have already been open) but on cod it still says strict, any advice?

 

Make sure UPnP is enabled in your router's settings.

 

I tried everything. Only thing that did it for me was a new router.

I did a little research for you and in addition to the ports that UPnP would open for Xbox Live, there are some additional ports that need to be opened to give Ghosts an Open NAT.

I would disable UPnP and just forward all of the ports listed in this link.

After port forwarding reset your router and give the Xbox One a hard reset.

 

Had strict nat couldn't get off either new router, upnp, dmz host, not even different house didn't work.still used it because was working alot but i love online play so had to send in less then a week and they are sending me a new one loving that though
you might have to do the same.

 

Tried a few different things but what eventually worked for me was disabling UPNP, after I did that I got an open nat in-game thankfully.
