XBOX ONE NAS server connectivity request

I have a Synology NAS server with all my photo's and MP3's on it. On my trusty old 360 I could connect to that and play my music during games or run a slideshow with my photo's. On the new and mighty XBOX ONE this is not possible. Will this option be added
in the future please?

DLNA != share support

Don't expect Xbox One to ever support accessing network shares. If one's NAS has a DLNA server, that may see support. If one's NAS is just providing shares, it is unlikely that it will ever work with Xbox One.

 

No MP3 on Xbox One!

Install DLNA server on phone/tablet/laptop/PC, or enable on NAS. Publish music. Play via Xbox One. Problem solved.

 

As the updates roll out, many will be geared at making your XBOX One with the abilities of your XBOX 360. That being said, I just don't know. Look forward to future updates and hopefully you'll be able to enjoy that functionality on your XBOX One. I hope

Certainly enjoying my xbox one but think this is a big flaw for an all in one home multimedia device...... Guess we all willl need to wait.

 

GREAT JOB MICROSOFT! They have added DNLA & MKV support in the Media Player! I can now play all my files (Video, Music, photo's) directly from my NAS server! Well done in listening!
