I have yet to find any console or streaming box to match the one I use now: WD TV Live Hub. This thing plays every video format out there; which is good, as plex only supports a couple. Most of my files are in .iso, and the WD plays them no problem. I have
16TB of local storage with thousands of movies/TV episodes. I have a TIVO that I convert into playable files if I choose. It would be cool if WD built a xbox one app to allow a direct handshake between the boxes, but don't see that happening.

    Hey Benjamin,

I am not looking to get rid of My xbox one, but I am looking at getting an HTPC (Home Theater PC).

I want to be able to connect a Hard drive that is in the HTPC to the Xbox one over a wireless connection.

We all know 500gb is far too small for having to continuously install the games before being able to play them, so it would be nice to be able to install them to a PC Hard Drive, and access these games via the xbox one (I recently purchased a 1tb external
    HDD for my games)

I don't like wires as much as the next person, so with everything currently being wireless in the home, I want to be able to have everything (Including the kitchen sink) linked up to the HTPC.

I know with Windows 10 we can now stream direct to the PC, but I would rather be able to connect the xbox one to the PC and play the games direct from the HDD.

I don't want to use the HTPC as a media center as such, but would be good If you knew of a way to do this, as there doesn't seem to be anything on xbox support or forums about the integration.

    thanks

    Luke

Well, Z0mbi, wouldn't that be the fault of the emby devs then? I would take it up with them. ;)

Now that Chef I absolutely agree should be a playback option, locking age restricted content from media servers would be a great idea.

However at the same time there should be an option on the One for parental accounts to block specific media servers.

Just for example I have Windows Media Player and Universal Media Server installed on my PC. I should have the option as a parental account to block access to them from a adult account. Or allow only a specific one, so the kids couldn't install another media
    server to access restricted content.

In short I am sure your software is great but I feel the controls you want would be better implemented on the console side than the media server side.

Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.
