  1. XBox One monitor compatibility issue, 4:3 legacy monitor.

XBox One ads didn't warn that XBox one requires a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor. My recently purchased XBox One produces a

vertically distorted picture (people in games appear ten feet tall, like funhouse mirror effect) when I use my hdmi to

vga converter to my dell 4:3 aspect ratio vga 1024X1280 resolution monitor. My Xbox 360 offers a 1024 by 1280 output option -

using that, all my games displayed nicely, no distortion, good resolution. Xbox One console discontinued that output option.Does

anyone know of a smart hdmi to vga converter that would convert hdmi to vga for a 4:3 aspect monitor, and add letterbox format

(black bars above and below, like cable boxes can do for old 4:3 tvs)? So that I won't have a vertically stretched display?

    :)

New owner of an xbox one s gears of war 4 bundle XBox One monitor compatibility issue, 4:3 legacy monitor. :D

Super excited .. Having a lot of fun with GOW4. Only game I bought the console for.

Few questions for all the gamers on here

Do you game on a tv or gaming monitor?

What Mic are you using ?

I purchased the legacy mic for $100 but noticed my monitor still plays audio while im using the headset .. So it plays audio from both the monitor and headset. Weird not sure if it is an easy fix

    Screen resolution problem!

It's possible that the Xbox 360 thinks the monitor doesn't support the timings for 1920x1080.

Disabling display discovery makes the Xbox 360 ignore some of the EDID data but not all. Maybe if it thinks the resolution is out of range in terms of bandwidth for the monitor the Xbox 360 still hides it.

So my instinct is that it is a compatibility issue where the EDID data given by the monitor is either self-contradictory or the Xbox 360 misinterprets it. If so, there is no immediate solution except to report the issue to Microsoft and the monitor manufacturer
    and cross ones fingers.

Choosing my frame rate on settings

Monitors, specially ones that have been overclocked tend to use nonstandard timings which can cause issues with compatibility. Please make sure the monitor firmware is updat3d, and failing that you should call Acer about these compatibility issues. Xbox uses standard VESA resolutions and timings.

Xbox 360 Issues with Connecting Monitor | Randomly monitor switch off and on while on-game

    Hi,

Do you see "no signal" on the monitor or it just turn off ?

If no signal AND if the HDMI cable is ok , its 99.99 % sure that your HDMI out port from the console has a hardware issue.

If turn off AND no red lights on the console, its a sync issue / bad compatibility with the monitor > So you should try the Xbox 360 on a tv ( not a pc monitor )

    If red lights , check on www.xbox.com/support and search the error code ( 1 / 2 / 3 or 4 red lights - Flashing … )

    Hope it help you.

    Regards,
    Hey !

    Thanks for your input :)

it just turn off and on again, i'm afraid it could be a bad compatibility with the monitor, which is really weird. the xbox 360 is from 2008 roughly, the monitor is 2018. Thats a 10 year Gap in technology and im just hoping its not the case.....

i will proceed with further troubleshooting and see.

xbox turns on but no signal in monitor

What is the make and model of your monitor? Many monitors have compatibility issues as monitors are for computers, and have had the software and hardware messed with to achieve non-standard specs and timings.
