Xbox One - migrate external drive contents to a larger drive?

i would connect both the drives to your console and transfer from one drive to another, both being SSD's it wont take long at all. It doesnt take long to move from my external drive to the internal on my console and neither of those are ssd, so yours should
fly through

I currently have an external 500GB SSD hard drive connected to the USB port of my Xbox One X. There are a few games installed and from past experience I know that with all the updates it will take 1/2 day plus to reinstall.

I want to replace the 500GB drive with a 1TB and migrate all the existing content over. Is there a specific process I can follow to clone the contents or will any standard Windows disk cloning tool suffice?

Is there a reason you cant just use both drives? Would solve your problem and give you even more space

Also you can get sata to usb3 cables on amazon for like $10 that would run the 2.5 drives

Thanks for all the response so far. I only wish to retain one external drive attached the console - the old drive will be repurposed.

I knew you could transfer from internal drive to external from the Xbox menus - didn't realize it would allow external to external drives as well; if so that's perfect.

The main limitation I have now is I only have one USB external drive enclosure, and I have 2 standalone 2.5" SATA drives - so hooking them both up at the same time to the Xbox is currently not an option. My idea would have been connect the existing and
new drives to a PC to migrate the data; and then put the new drive in the USB enclosure.

I do have an older WD Passport USB drive. I suppose I could copy 500GB to Passport via the Xbox. Then swap 1TB drive into the USB enclosure and copy Passport to 1TB via the Xbox.

That guide is unofficial and is not supported by Xbox, so if something goes wrong, you might lose your data, and it will be your fault.

The best way is to connect both drives to the Xbox One, making sure that the drive you want to copy to is formatted for Xbox One game use.

Then goto settings - system - storage - select the drive you want to copy from and select transfer, choose what you want to copy, and then choose the drive you want to copy to. Once you have done that, the xbox one will copy the games to your hard drive.
