Xbox One - Microphone Icon Always Muted

Hello

Following a recent update my headset has stopped working, both in terms of the microphone and the earphones.

I have swopped the headset out for another two other headsets, and indeed changed the controller.

I can't help but notice that the in the top right hand corner of the screen there is a new microphone icon, which is showing as muted. I cannot find anywhere you enable this.

The controllers are both patched up to the latest patch, and both of them are showing the volume button in the controller setup menu as greyed out.

If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.

Headset /Microphone Stopped Working One Minute working Next Minute Nothing

Tried Everything nothing working. Please Help.

Chatted to Support they couldnt help me.

Icon showing near battery saying Microphone Muted however Headset not muted and no where on screen to show up volume or muted .. HELP My Son is driving me Bonkas with this. Wants to talk to his mates.

Xbox saying headset is plugged in when it's not.

I see you've played Dance Central 2 so I'm assuming you have a Kinect. Even if you have the Kinect muted for game chat it still displays an audio icon to show that you have a microphone on in games.



Not sure why your headset isnt actually working unless the Kinect mic isn't muted and is overriding the headset.

 

Try creating a party and on the top page of the party screen you should see hit y or x to unmute. See if that comes up for you and use it to unmute your mic. If not try the link below.

Just tried that and it came up with the following message:

'We were unable to find a microphone for these people'

 

I'm quite a bit late but I couldn't find any mention of this anywhere until now. I have been experiencing this same problem with a microphone icon next to the battery icon on the home screen and it never goes away. I've contacted support and they seemed
clueless as well. I can hear people on my mic but they can't hear me the only exception would be distinctive noises being picked up (like me loudly clearing my throat) but not me actually talking. My mic still lights up to let me know if it's muted or not. If
I plug in the mic, the system recognizes it and the icon disappears from the home page and is replaced with the usual headset icon. This has been going on for like 2 months now for me and it's really hindered my online gameplay. I was in the xbox insider program
and support insisted that that was the issue and it would be fixed if I left but all that ended up doing was forcing me to reinstall everything on my system again after it uninstalled the insider update. I'm at my wits end with this because no one seems to
know what's going on. I was also actually in the middle of a party when this issue started and I noticed that after a while, no one was replying to what I was saying. I've done all of the troubleshooting steps that I am capable of doing at the moment also.

 

i too have this issue, bought new mic and controller, but still have the same god damn problems. i have audio but mic unresponsive!

 

I have the same issue. getting pissed MICROSOFT WHAT IS THE FIX FOR THE ISSUE> YESS IM YELLING......... without the cusswords

 

Omg I thought it was me. I too have the microphone muted symbol next to the battery icon. ****. I've bought THREE pairs of headsets and can't get any of them to work with the mic. I can hear the people but the people can't hear me. It's very very frustrating

 

this is exactly what is happening to me - any updates on what to do? I have just spent over an hour with support with no luck????

 

Try plugging you headset into the controller

 

I had that problem with my wireless headphones. I stopped to see what I was doing different from last time they were working and then realize that I plugged the usb cable from the receptor to the tv instead of the Xbox. So I reconnectes the usb cable from
the receptor directlh into the Xbox and it started to work again.

Is there an update regarding this issue, I am suffering the same problems I have gone through the troubleshooting guide and this has not resolved the problem, I have also contacted Microsoft support and on each of the 3 occasions I have called the agent
has gone through the same troubleshooting guide only to hang up at the end of the call, leaving me somewhat frustrated. I expected better from Xbox,

That aside am I to assume that I will be unable to use a headset on my console ever again !!!
