Xbox One mic will not pick up sound

After reading through several threads and "official support" responses and following all the recommendations, my mic(s) are still not working across all four of my controllers and both my headsets.

I will layout all that I can recollect I have done to remedy the problem below, but the main issue is essentially that I am receiving game audio through both headsets, but can not under any circumstance get the microphone to work on either headset so that
party/game/fireteam/skype/etc members can hear me speaking (hear all of them fine). I have had the mic for both headsets working in the past, but once they stopped working (at the same time -> software issue???) they have not worked since.

I have the basic XB1 Microsoft mic that came with my day one XB1, and also have the TB X12 wired headset. Have updated all four of my controllers (all four official microsoft wireless controllers). Have adjusted all privacy/system settings to the proper
recommended configuration. Have toggled the kinect's chat option off/on. Have power cycled each controller before plugging in headset. Have power cycled the box before plugging in the headsets. Have toggled my NAT settings to moderate and back to open several
times. Have tried two different headset adapters (necessary for the TB headset) - on both adapters, have toggled mute several times and held volume up until the beep... all amongst other "fix" recommendations I've read in the forums.

I'm to the point where I'm assuming it's a software issue within my box/controllers/adapter configuration, or that there is an issue with my box hardware. If anyone else (I'm looking at you Microsoft *cough*) has ANY other recommendations or tips as to how
I could remedy this situation, I would be extremely grateful.

Tape would work on the camera but the mic would still pick up sound, as its not sound deadenr

 

Mic too sensitive, how do I adjust it?

@sniffles x I'm not a heavy breather, it's that my mic picks up every little sound from the game I think, as for the charge kit, i don't even own one.

 

Hey I copied and pasted everything below from a previous thread, I'm not sure if this will help you but I posted this anyway doesn't hurt to try. In the 3rd link below there is a YouTube video for two products that I have, one of the products is a Mic(female)
and audio(female) to Male Y splitter that I'm pretty sure will work with your Turtle Beach headset. All you should have to do is plug the white jack into the mic part of the Y splitter and the green into the headphone jack of the Y splitter and then the male
into the Xbox one stereo headset adapter. I can't make any guarantees but I'm almost certain that if you get that Y splitter it will work with your turtle Beach headset and you should be good to go, hope this helps.

It's because the adapter and the headset your using are 2 different standards, the Adapter is CTIA while your Headset is OMTP there are CTIA to OMTP /or OMPT to CTIA converters(either one will work) you can get from any Tech store RadioShack, BestBuy, etc.
or online at Amazon or eBay.

Also if like me you have Actual Headphones(w/ a detachable cable)(NOT earbuds) such as Beats by Dr. Dre(any model) or other brand and want to use your Beats or other but want a better quality Mic that doesn't pick up cord russel or rubbing sounds from your
clothing or skin because like many brands it has a cord with an in-line remote/Mic.... Below is a link to the other option I went with in this YouTube video showing what you'll need and how to use it, the items info is in the description. I got both items
off of Amazon for $15.46 w/Free 2-day Shipping with a Free 30 day Trial membership to Amazon Prime, which is way more reasonable then buying the single dedicated use XBOX One Stereo Headset for $90. But like the converter I mentioned above you can also get
these or similar products at any Tech store such as RadioShack, Best Buy, etc..
