Xbox One Mic shorting out controller.

So a numerous amount of my friends that bought an Xbox One have had the same issue I have had, every time I go to plug the mic in, the controller turns off right away, and after a few times, the controller will not turn on at all. I'm sure Microsoft will
deny the fact that the issue ties in with the mic, but honestly it is, and having to send in my only controller to receive another for free, that's cool in call. But the fact that it's going to waste about a week or two of playing video games disappointments
me since I just renewed my xbox live subscription. The fact that the ball was dropped hardcore and a large amount of money was used to purchase these products unfinished and faulty is disappointing and unsatisfying, and in the end all that will be done is
replacing a broken item I have to wait for. Time and money completely wasted. So is the 7+ years of being a customer.

    :)

    Xbox One Headset shorting out...

When I join a Party with my friends I can hear them fine, but they hear a crackling from my headset or nothing at all. That is until I move it around and they can hear me for about 30 seconds until it starts acting up again. It just started and I've tried
it on a couple of controllers, one is brand new. These products should last for more than a year. My 360 wireless headsets still work like they were out of the box and they are 8 years old! I am not pleased with the performance of Microsoft accessories.
I had to replace my controller because the RB stopped working....

having the same issue here of controller not working or constantly disconnects when the mic is plugged in. this seems to be a common issue.

Using ASUS Vulcan ANC as headset?

Yeah it's not that simple. The mic 3.5mm connector on the headset only has one channel while the 2.5mm jack on the controller is two channels. When you plug the mic connector into the converter it shorts the voice and speaker channels together so the controller
will not know what to do. It will try sending a speaker signal out only to have it shorted into the mic and then grounded so nothing gets through.

You can find adapter designed to plug into the 360 controller and support 3.5mm headset. Look on amazon for 360 controller PC headset adapter or similar and you should find it. It separates the two channels into two 3.5mm inputs one for speaker out and one
for mic in. I would save your money and buy a headset designed for the 360 that is meant to integrate Live chat.

The best controller you ever used?

My plain old white controller from my first xbox that was about 5 years ago. Every other controller I used has broke within a short amount of time. But my old white one is perfectly fine. The analog sticks aren't cloggy or messed up in any way, buttons work
fine, and everything else is perfect about it. The only thing that is wrong with it is that there is a little piece of the mic is stuck into it (yanked the mic out too hard 4 years ago) so it can't use a mic with that controller, but it's still in perfect
    condition.

Recording for YouTube can I use this as a mic?

The Crazy Beard is right about being able to record yourself. Maybe whatever you're recording with could take in the 2nd mic audio at the same time so no syncing needed. But you probably still want to be able to talk to the other players. The 2.5mm stero
plug on the controller needs to be split into 2 mono plugs with an adapter. One will be mono chat voice output (which it seems you don't need to use since you set preferences to listen to chat voice through the speakers) and the other mono mic input that you
can plug any mic into. If you just plug in a regular 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter for the mic without spliting the controller out into the 2 mono channels the 2 will short and the mic will not work. If I remmeber correctly, the headset speaker part usually still
works when they are shorted but not the mic. Also different mics give different results on the quality/volume of your voice to the other players.
