Xbox One Mic(s) Not Working - Console/Software Issue?

Hello all - very frustrated fellow gamer here. I was playing in a party two days ago when all of the sudden I couldn't be heard in the party anymore. I could hear the others, but they couldn't hear me - until I unplugged my Xbox One headset and went through
Kinect. Annoying, but just a bunk headset, right? Wrong.

Fast forward to today: I replaced the headset, bought a new controller, power cycled (hard boot), and have restored factory settings. Still, same issue persists. After chatting with an (oddly nice/helpful!) Xbox Support member online, he was convinced
it wasn't a peripheral issue, but an actual issue with the console. Now, I can't imagine what could go wrong other than some mic/audio driver, or other soft/firmware glitch, but this is maddening. Obviously, I don't want to replace the console over not being
able to party/game chat via headset, but having to chat exclusively over Kinect is a non starter in our household - I couldn't do that to my party members. If this was a software, firmware, or driver issue, a factory reset would alleviate it, wouldn't it?

I know others have had this issue - I've ready plenty of posts that describe exactly what happened to me, but without any conclusive fix. To note, I have already:

    • Power Cycled (hard booted)
    • Followed any/all Xbox One sanctioned support troubleshooting guides
    • Tried a new controller
    • Tried a new headset (and other headsets that I have confirmed broadcast audio, and have worked in the past)
    • Factory Reset
    • Fiddled with Kinect, making sure it can see "me" with the controller in hand
    • Unplugged Kinect entirely
    • "Choose this Person" after signing out of my profile with and without the headset plugged in
    • Pulled out a good portion of my already thinning head of hair
Please, anyone out there got that fix?

    :)

  2. Serious system software bug or bug with bluray player app

    hi

I have been told that by Xbox customer support that this is the only way to report a software bug with the Xbox one S console and the latest system software release.

3D bluray playback is not working fully after latest software updates this is a repeatable software bug on at least 4 Xbox one S consoles that I have access too.

The 3D playback can be corrected by temporarily disabiling 4K video output from the system settings menu.

This serious software bug only started to happen after the latest system software update after the Xbox one X was released.

Can you please get your software team to fix and issue a software update ASAP

    Thanks

Xbox One Mic(s) Not Working - Console/Software Issue?

Same I did all those things and tried headset on phone hard reset network settings everything etc and it works perfectly I tried two different mics that are both compatible with the controller one standard that comes with and and another I bought both 3.5
mm. I just bought the Xbox one 4 days ago and now I'm disappointed I did with the problems in already having and I talked to the rep for an hour and he basically said it was a hardware problem..

Just to check on the hardware, can you try downloading the Skype app and perform an echo test on the console? There should be a contact in Skype called "Skype test call" that you can call up and listen for an echo on your mic. If you're able to hear yourself
there it may be an issue with your network setup. Be sure that your NAT type is showing as open under network settings, as well as the friends you're partying with.

Let us know what's going on when you get a chance for this Xbox One Mic(s) Not Working - Console/Software Issue? :)

Mista, appreciate the help. I switch between (trying) talking to a friend in an XBLive party, and Skype test calls to see if things are working. Skype test calls come back mute.

    The hunt continues.

    No problem!

Thanks for checking into a test call. Just to make sure, are any users on the console enrolled in the preview program? To clarify as well, are you using a headset adapter with your controller and headset or are you plugging directly into the controller with
    your headset?

Microphones on both of my headsets not working since this week's update

Okay, let's make it clear that the problem being discussed here is when the mics of any headset aren't working on the XBox One at any time. Not "It works in party chat but not in the game" (or vice versa). Not, "My TB are fine but XX headset doesn't work."
The situation is that the mic has stopped working on functioning headsets (that work on other XBox Ones or the 360). Maybe the problems are all connected, but "sometimes working" should be on a different thread than "it has stopped working."

We believe it is a software issue. The above mention of how the 3.5mm port is being used by the software could be a lead, but that user seems to have a different issue.

Someone posted that there was a peripheral work around - some way to get two-way chat audio data to and from the XBox One console without using the controller- but we don't know what that is. Maybe some sort of USB microphone, but I don't know.
