Xbox One Messaging is Just Bad...

Wait, can you use wireless keyboards on xbox one?

 

I don't think so; I believe it has to be USB. Wireless might work, but I think the console is very selective. I think it would just be easier to go with USB (with a long cable - my 6 ft. is not nearly long enough).

 

Another reason is because there's no voice messaging. An X-B-O-X feature which Xbox 360 has. Not even between other Xbox 1 consoles. Many of my friends are people I meet on Xbox Live said that Microsoft could bring this out in a future update.

M hasn't released an official chatpad yet but the SmartGlass app works brilliantly if you have a smartphone or tablet. Your Dashboard performance depends on your Internet Speed and the way Microsoft makes the Dashboard although they will release updates
to help improve Dashboard performance. Even when I joined late 2010 on Xbox 360 there has been A LOT of Dashboard UPDATES for that console.

 

bird, just wanted to point out that even with voice messages, if we had them on the XB1, you would STILL have to stop playing your game to record and send it.

 

Voice messages are awful also not many requested it in beta preview

Sending messages seem quick to me but i also use the smartglass

 

The messaging system on the XBOX One is bad and slow. All this power and we get a UI that's slow and should be almost instant.

 

I've used my Logitech Wave Keybaord K350 on my 360 and One. It's wireless, but whatever it's plugged into it acts just like a plain wired USB keyboard for when you have to mess around in the BIOs or terminal windows on PCs.

UI needs an update though to speed it up. I posted somewhere in the beta feedback about how great a radial pie menu typing system would work. Right trigger brings up two radial menus with alpha numeric characters. Right stick and left stick let you quickly
select a letter or number just like the weapon selection schemes so many games use now. Left trigger could bring up two as well giving you A-Z and 0-9 between four radial pies with nine characters per pie.

Hopefully a chatpad comes out with the headset adapter built into it. I always had it on my 360 controller just made it feel easier to hold and the extra weight was nice.

 

Why dont we have voice messaging yet?

 

If memory serves, you had 15 seconds of record time for a voice message on the 360. I could get a lot more info in a voice message, sent out a LOT faster than I ever could have if I had to type it. Win/win when it comes to having to stop playing long enough
to do it.

Also, wireless keyboards do work just fine. I went to my local Wally-world and picked up a cheap (ONN? if memory serves) and it works well. Just make sure you adjust your power settings to 'energy saver' or w/e it's called to completely power down your console
and unplug it. Then plug in the wireless receiver, plug your console back in and turn it on. That should be all you need to do (and don't forget to turn your power on setting back to 'instant on' if you had it set that way previously).

 

Just woke up Tuesday 7:30 am for me. Thank you Blazini. I've meet many on Xbox Live (Xbox 360 and Xbox 1) who want Voice Messaging. Maybe not many who hang out on this forum, want it. I will gladly sacrifice some seconds off my gaming time for voice messaging.
If your txting only using your controller and not SmartGlass or a "U-S-B keyboard", I feel your pain at how slow it is ;D

 

I have an old Apple G4 usb Keyboard for both the XB1 and Ps4, works just fine and less clumsy then messing around with a tablet imo.

 

Its weird because the messaging was faster yesterday for me, maybe has to do with internet connection.

 

Well, considering that your Xbox One console has to send and receive messages, yes, that would certainly be a part of it. ;P

 

how about bring the voice messaging back why was it removed? who wants to have to hook a keyboard up?

 

Voice messaging would be nice also
