    XBox One MediaPlayer no support for video subs and playlists


    XBox One was announced as the media center for our living room.

    MediaPlayer works quite nicely with files from USD-device or connected to external MediaCenter (UPnP / DLNA) , but two important features are still missing.

    * no support for videos with subtitles (e.g. MP4 Video file + corresponding *.SMI or *.SRT subtitle file

    * no support for common playlists Formats (audio but also video would be nice)

    Please include these features in one of the next updates.

    The videos are automatically put in HD if the video supports it.

    The Youtube website works fine on the Xbox One.

    No, there is no way to watch videos from a playlist that I know of. I hope they add that feature in later though.

    The mediaplayer which will support external USB devices is coming with the September update to Xbox One. It will support external USB 2.0 devices with audio and movie files.

    Mediaplayer is ancient compared to most mediaplayers

    Which support more codecs and don't have paid codecs

    Vlc is one of them

    And you can setup your xbox as an DLNA server which is better anyhow like that play to or vlc app and then have your phone or computer provide the server

    Are you talking about videos and music you downloaded from the internet and stored on a external drive to be used as a media drive?

    If so since you are talking about a variety of codecs . have you downloaded VLC for xbox ? It is a very very good program a d supports a varietyof third party codecs

    Windows mediaplayer doesn't really support non mainstream codecs

    Mp4 mpg.avi wmv etc

    Vlc tends to support hundreds even ogg
