Why doesnt this work properly on Youtube? It scrolls up and down but not left and right through the videos - will there be an update for this or have I just wasted £20??

Yes, the
Xbox One Media remote will work with an Xbox One X. I use mine regularly.

At least yours scrolls. None can go up and down using the channel buttons and that's the only pair of buttons that works.

The troubleshooting section of the support page says the remote works with most except one "particular app", though it doesn't explicitly say YouTube. I use the YouTube app more than any other, so I feel the same as you as far as regretting the purchase.

I can scroll up/down but not left right either. I can't start the videos either.

G'day all! As DogMeat points out in the support article, some 3rd party apps do not yet fully support the Media Remote.

It sounds like you are all having difficulty with Youtube currently. If you'd like a workaround for now, then check out the
SmartGlass for Xbox One app. It will allow you to navigate your Youtube app from a smart phone or tablet.

Hello, just recived my media remote today. Cant interact with youtube and it wont interact with the cd player app.

Hey there Apeachs!

As Misses Joust pointed out, some 3rd party apps may not be compatible for use with the Media Remote. However, you can use the SmartGlass app from a smart phone or tablet as a workaround to navigate your Youtube app.

No, not in the way I need. The Kinect does push IR signal to other devices, but it wont accept a signal from the remote to push to the One. I thought it was at first too, but it is not according to Microsofts XBOX One Media Remote Page. See the "Using

Unfortunately the Xbox 360 remote is not compatible with the Xbox One and at the moment the Microsoft are not planning to change this.

Microsoft may redesign and release the Xbox One media remote similar to how they did with the Xbox 360 remote in the future but this is just speculation however I believe there are some 3rd party remotes that maybe have the use of a number pad to change
channel such as Logitech Harmony remote range. I believe the control is designed like this to possible make people use the Kinect features more.
